Hello everyone, First of all, sorry for my bad English, but you will understand my problem as well: I last had an iPhone x for 3 years. The battery life was accordingly also more than bad in the meantime. The size was ok, but I always wanted something smaller, like the iPhone 5 or something like that.

Now I have the iPhone 12 mini since 5 days and I am not happy at all. The size is great, but the edges are harder for me to hold than the round edges of the iPhone X. Also the battery life of the iPhone 12 mini is not good at all. I use the phone actually only for WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Web. However, I can literally watch the percentages decrease with minimal use. Here 5g is disabled, background updates are disabled and darkmode is enabled. Since battery life is essential for me, I now have an eye on the iPhone 11 Pro. My question is: is the battery life really that good on the iPhone 11 Pro, I will notice a big difference between the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 12 mini ? The iPhone X had 174 grams, the 11 pro would have 14 grams more. So far I always had the Apple leather case on the X, so I got out at about 210 grams, which was no problem so far. Do you think I can't handle the heavy 11 pro then? The 11 pro still costs about 1000 €.

Would it be suitable for me to get the 11 pro and send the mini back? Or is the iPhone 11 battery even better than the iPhone 11 pro?

Thanks in advance.

I think you’d do better battery wise with a larger phone. I recall seeing some articles in the web comparing the batteries in the new 12s versus the 11s. I had the X and now have the 12 Pro and size wise there isn’t too much difference. My X battery health had decreased a lot so the 12 seems like the battery is lasting a lot longer. But if you send the mini back and buy an 11 or 12, wouldn’t you have another 14 days to evaluate the new phone?

Oh you'll definitely see a battery life difference if you compare it with the 11 Pro. If you're that dissatisfied with the mini I'd suggest you go with the 11 Pro. It doesn't sound like the mini is for you. I'd say it's for people who aren't constantly staring at their battery meter!

Ok, its nice to hear, that the battery life with the 11pro is good. Do you think the difference in 16 gram from the iPhone X will be a problem?

It’s known with how small the mini is it would hurt on battery, like others said with your use you need a bigger phone with a bigger battery.

I’d like to point out the apps “only” use are mostly social media apps which are typically worse on the batteries in general.

Besides the battery you might consider a loopy case or something similar to make the phone you choose easier to hold. loopycases.com

You are using apps that are all battery hungry.

Once in a case the edges shouldn’t be an issue.

As others have said, the larger iPhone 12 may be better for you, or it’s likely your phone is recently setup or since settings need adjusting to improve battery life.

Why are This battery hungry Apps? All of them in darkmode. The mini loses much battery over night as well. I use the Original Apple leather case for the mini, but the edges are very uncomfortable to me. I tried the normal 12 and the 11 pro. The 11 pro was much nicer for me.

I think you should get the 11 Pro. It's basically the same as your X but with better battery life. Comfortable phone for you and better battery life. Seems like a simple solution.

Facebook has never been properly optimised, neither has messenger. The fact that Instagram and WhatsApp are also Facebook owned suggests that those are not good with battery either. Facebook never care about battery life from their apps, even Google do a better job of optimising their Apps and they’re a direct rival!
