New member here, but 20 year lurker!

I have an iPhone 12. I've had it for 3 years. It's always worked great.

In the 2 months, on more than one occasion it freezes recording a video. It freezes for 3 seconds or so but it also saves to the camera roll. But with the freeze. The only thing that's changed are OS updates that I'm aware of. Settings have always remained the same.

The phone also seems to get relatively warm.

Is there somewhere that I can start to try to diagnose this? I have an esim (I'm not a fan of them) so I can't easily just wipe the whole thing and start over I don't think? Even if I could, I don't know what I'd lose.

Is there some sortof "tune-up" or a health check that I can run on the phone?

I can't successfully reproduce this when I'm in my living room and clock the record button. This is very tricky to diagnose as I can't reproduce it reliably But it DOES happen when my daughter is performing her violin at a show or we're singing happy birthday to her.

Would love some insight on how to troubleshoot and diagnose.

This has never happened to any of my iPhones. My guess is your phone has a hardware problem

Hey, I’m sorry you’re having this issue. How’s your battery health? Does it say it can reach peak performance?

By the way, restoring won’t wipe your eSIMs :)

I'm wiping my phone right now and am restoring it. I'm not sure if that'll reinstall an image or if it's a clean install and modified settings, etc. This is the first step I suppose. If this doesn't work, I'll start fresh and if that doesn't work. Goodbye phone.

Battery health is at 82%.

If your phone’s plugged in and restoring over a cable, then it’s a full (clean) reinstall.

Excellent. I've done the reinstall, added credit cards back in, apps reinstalled and all initial settings are intact. Hopefully a clean install helps as a first step. I really don't want a new phone right now, would rather hold out a little bit longer.
