Just recently updated from an iPhone 7 to an iPhone 12 mini. I'm having problems with the Wifi continually dropping out. This means I can't really use my phone at all for streaming or making calls over wifi.

I get between 25% and 50% packet loss when pinging a number of endpoints. I've tested this on 2 different wireless networks at the moment, my old iphone 7 has no issues (0% packet loss) when connected to the same networks.

I've tried with and without a magsafe case (although I doubt that would be the cause of interference). And also tried 1m away from the wireless access point. I've also tried with and without the low data and "private address" modes too, and this doesn't cause any changes. I also get timeouts pinging other devices on the network and when pinging the router.

Also updated to iOS 14.2 and this made no difference.

Does anyone else with an iphone 12 mini have the same issue? I'm really surprised to see the packet loss only on the new device...

I might have this as well. Seems like it takes 3-5 seconds before network requests begin. I need to do more testing though but it is making this amazing phone a bit of a chore to use.

Update: I also seem to have the issue on my previous iPhone. Could it be iOS 14? I’m getting 30-50% packet loss when pinging a variety of domains.

What app are you using?

I’ve attached my screenshots. I’ve tried using two apps, one called Ping and one called Ping Lite.

My experience is, for example, typing in a URL to safari and then waiting 5 seconds till something starts happening. Or scrolling through the Reddit app and images not loading.

Using the app ping on my wifi I have no packet loss and an avg. ping of 10.29ms to Google's DNS, I have an Eero Pro 6 Router if that helps.

Ok, mine appears to be unrelated to the mini. I have IPTV from my ISP and it uses some special protocol to work. For some reason my Amplifi router stopped liking it and the IPTV was causing problems over the network. Ended up just unplugging it as I never watch it anyway.

My partner and I both have iPhone 12 Pro and we recently are getting a lot of wi fi dropouts at home.

troubleshooted router, but no luck. Very frustrating and no idea where to go with it to be honest. Will work for a time but then suddenly stop.

get an error message too on occasion to tell me my password on router is incorrect (and it isn’t).

It's not a router problem for me. Just spoke to Apple and got a replacement on its way. (after about 3 hours on the phone with tech support)

I have the same issue. New iPhone 12 Pro just drops from WiFi at the frequency of one time a day. I have to turn off WiFi on the iPhone and then turn it right back on again and it works until the next time (next day). Usually it just happens randomly toward the middle of the day. The router firmware is up to date, rebooted the router, rebooted the iPhone, forgot network and reconnected, reset network settings on the phone and reconnected, it's still happening. Other devices in the home (MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, spouses iPhone 11 Pro) don't have this issue.

At this point hoping 14.3 will fix it.
