I posted earlier asking about comparing the 11-Pro camera vs the iPhone 12 non-Pro camera. The understanding I got is that the 12-non-Pro (and 12-Pro) camera are better than the 11-Pro camera, not considering the telephoto lens.

I'm debating whether to upgrade to the 12-Pro or 12-mini, coming from an 11-Pro non-Max. I'd want the 12-Pro to have the best camera possible (for the phone size I want), but I also want the phone-size of the mini, so I want to understand what camera-quality/features I'd be giving up with the mini.

My use cases:
1) I rarely/never-used the telephoto lens on my 11-Pro
2) Most my pictures are of friends/family, that I then post to Google-Photos using their high (non-original) quality to share
3) I don't post-edit pictures, outside of cropping and live-photo editing (in case someone blinked)

My understanding of what I'd lose by going with 12-mini instead of 12-pro:
1) No 2x or greater zoom / telephoto lens
2) Night mode portraits
3) apple-RAW... I don't believe I'd use this since I'm not into post-editing
4) Video editing at higher fps, which I don't care for
5) other non-camera features aren't in scope for this consideration, such as better battery or stainless steel build

So other than the above... My understanding is that the 12-mini's pictures using the wide lens would be just as good as the 12-Pro's pictures. Does that sound correct? Welcome any other related feedback!

The Mini would suite your usage fine, however just consider the battery life loss over what you have now. If you easily get through a day, then the Mini will last you a day in the same usage pattern.

I posted a somewhat similar question.
