Hi All,

Had an 11, restored to a 7 on iOS 14.1 as a temp phone and have now restored that to my iPhone 12 Pro. I left the phone on charge and connected to WiFi for the bulk of the day and all overnight and when i looked at it in the morning it still had approx 5800 original photos to download ( I have 7194 + 245 videos) and it wasnt moving. I have turned iCloud photos off and back on, most of the photos disappeared (odd that it wasnt all of them considering they were all in iCloud and i hadnt taken any new ones on my new phone) but the ones that had remained had to be "Uploaded" and then it started downloading them all again but its now stuck again on "Downloading Originals".

When i click on a photo that it hasnt downloaded, it loads extremely quick. the percentage circle loads in about half a second so when I open the photo it then downloads it very quick, but it seems to not be doing it automatically.

Has anyone seen this before? its stuck on 5365 photos left and isnt budging, and is going incredibly sdlow. Ive got 80MB fibre broadband so I know thats not the issue as it used to download everything incredibly quick. my home internet isnt slow in general (nothing else is using it) so im assuming this is a phone/iOS issue.

Could this just be a case of, everyone is hammering the Apple servers at the moment doing iCloud restores?

Overnight isn't enough time to upload/download that many iCloud photos. It could be several days. Be patient and let the process continue ...

but each photo loads within a second of opening it, so in theory i could swipe and do 3600 photos in an hour? i wouldnt (and neither would anyone else as its incredibly intensive) but surely automated should be able to go at at least the same speed?

same issue here on my iphone 12 pro.
The original photos are not downloaded from iCloud. Probably the icloud servers which are busy right now with many people restoring their phone.

So ive been able to force the bulk of them to download by selecting all of them and choosing to add to a shared album. it forces the download before adding them to an album after which i just cancel.

But theres still 340 left that i cant seem to find anywhere that are apparently still downloading, and that number just isnt moving at all!
