Nice phone but competition had this earlier - seems not right to me if you consider HUAWEI has even better cameras and oled was standard for many phones for years. Even 5G it has thankfully to Qualcomm. Other phones had it earlier and have it better.
Great device but definitely not a „leader“ - design is very premium might lead that.

I wish I could agree about it being the best, it seemed like it was going in that direction until I lost complete cellular network connectivity during an important call. Reading through posts on the issue, it doesn’t appear that Apple has been able to fix it. So I’ll have to disagree with it being the best, had to return mine and go back to the 11 Pro which holds a consistent connection and gets better battery life.

up next: best toasters

You do realize the purpose of consumer reports is not to comment on the past but to provide information for purchasing decisions moving forward yes? And.. of course they review toasters too.

Oddly this is the only generation of iPhone I skipped since the last one I didn’t buy, the 4s. The 11 Pro Max has still been quite good for me, though I love the nostalgic styling of the new models.

Looking forward to seeing what rumors are true for the next generation.

iPhone 12 is by far the weakest update in years!
Perfect example that their customers will accept anything.
How tragical that is.

Their media will call this year’s iPhone as magical, huge update, amazing etc. but in all honesty it will be just the model that 12 shoul’ve been from the start.
You guys are leading new generation of brainwashed consumers.

What?

iPhone XS was the weakest over the X, the 11 not so much better either. Nope, the 3GS takes that crown. WiFi bands the same, just LTE support that’s it really, nothing as tangible of performance like Apple claimed but at same pricing it did very well. The 12 over the 11 has some substation upgrades.

And well the 12 is the model it should’ve been at the start, nothing has changed lol (/cheeky - you probably meant the 12 is what the 11 should’ve been from the start).

What about the midnight blue?
Pacific Blue? I had the Pacific Blue and returned it. It was too much of the same blue color. I like the contrast of of the back color and the sides for the gold and silver. To me it gives it a very classy look.

The 3GS was a massive performance increase over the 3G. I bought a used 3GS about a year after it's released and was blown away at how much better it was than the 3G.

I love my 12 Pro Max, though I came from an 8 plus. I think the 12 series finally gets the X design mostly right, and the spread of size options from Mini to Max is great because there is something for everyone. My wife has an 11 Pro, and the display is not as good, especially off-center viewing, and she's had lots of problems (granted could be software). My 12 Pro Max has been fantastic -- no complaints except for extra features I'd like added to iPhones in general.

I think the 12 series is probably going to be the last iteration of this design, and we'll see bigger design changes in the 13, though maybe not as drastic as from 8 vs X. 12 Pro Max is to the X through 12 models what 8 plus was to 6 through 8. 8 plus was a good model to stick with while waiting for the X design to mature, and 12 Pro Max will be a good model to be on when we may see the removal of the Lightning port and possible other major changes to adjust to.

PS: till this day I keep thinking “what a wonderfully useless word in my vocabulary that actually just sounds cool yet cannot use it for anything else lol”
What, the word "chamfered"? It's from the 1500s. We were still using it in 8th grade shop class in the 1970s. And again in high school drafting class in the 1980s. First I learned how to make it, then a few years later, I learned how to ask for it.

This is the problem with government school education today. Nobody knows what things are, so they assume that it's "useless".

What, "chamfered?" That word has been around since the mid 1500s.

I learned how to make a chamfered edge with a plane, saw, and router in 8th grade shop class. And as a high school senior, I learned how to draw one so that somebody else could make it.

It's not a shame that you don't know the word. It is a shame, however; that you've been taught that you don't need certain words.

Just because people don't see it your way, what...they're brainwashed? If you had real authority in this world, what would you do...make it illegal for people to disagree with you; illegal for them to buy something you don't like? Wear a hat you don't like?

I think we all need to chill. Have an ice cream bar.

Nobody agrees with me, yet my post that you object to has multiple likes. OK, guy.
I downvoted you for having a mean attitude. But that's your prerogative. Carry on!

Thank you. You're right of course.

The problem with CR these days, however; is that many appliance manufacturers pretty much suck at what they do. Seriously, just look up ovens, refrigerators, or washers & dryers. Some categories have no ratings above 85. That's horrible when NOBODY makes something with excellence. Making matters worse is the fact that especially for kitchen and laundry appliances, models can be made and sold for several years before a refresh. I recently bought a washer and dryer.

I didn't get warranty cards, although as LG products, they do have warranties. No, I got cards for ARBITRATION, that's what I got. What does that tell you when the manufacturer thinks it's more important to provide you with information on your arbitration rights than "making it right"?
