Hey guys,
just got the Apple leather cases for my iPhone 12 Pro Max': what the *#$& is this plastic lip/hump doing around the camera cutout?!
In the past I could very well deal with the camera bump of the devices itself, because once inside a case, they were practically gone.
But now? With this case I will never be able to lay the device flat onto a table!
What a disappointment.

With or without the lip you wouldn't be able to lay it flat anyways. The Pro Max has a bigger protrusion in the camera due to the bigger sensor. If that lip weren't there, your camera would touch the table every time.

So you say, the non-Max 12 Pro does not have this lip?

12 Pro Max camera protrudes farther out than the 12 Pro, thus the ring around the camera. You'll have this one every 12PM case, unless the whole case is just that much thicker.

But according to the photos from Apple‘s website, the cases for the 12 and 12 Pro do also have this plastic ring around the camera cutout?

They both have the plastic ring around the camera bump. But the ring on the iPhone Pro Max sticks out. With the iPhone 12 & iPhone 12 Pro the plastic ring is flush or very close to being flush.

What a bummer.
They should have made the phone slightly thicker and add more battery capacity - no hump and longer runtime.
That‘s just sad...
