My advice is preorder the pro max first, then when you get it, pay off the phone. That way you can ‘upgrade’ vs. apply for a new loan for the new phone.
I’ve done this several times. I’ve also sent phones back.
To pay it off after you get your new phone (at least I did in the past) you have to contact Apple to take the ‘hold’ off your old phone. Then you call Citizens One and use the automated payment option and pay off the full balance - look up the amount first on the website So you now how much to pay. You’ll get an email in a couple days that the phone is paid off.
When the box comes to return the phone, just ignore it.
You shouldn’t need to take off work just to order unless work interferes with the order at 8am EST. It took less than a minute with preapproval.
My XS Max. I’m still on 13.5 and my SE 2020 is also jailbroken on 13.3.
This wait is really annoying... hoping in the future Apple launches all its phone models at once. Hope this doesn’t happen every year now.
I found this on Apple’s website. Could this be why the 12 pro Max is delayed for purchase?

After using the 12 and finding it to small I’ve gone back to my xs max, promised myself I wouldn’t buy the pro max this year, after seeing how the 12 performs looks like I’m all in for a pro max this year, DAMN YOU APPLE!!!!! 🤦♂️🥺😂

I just got to hold a case for 12 Pro Max, compared with a case for 12 pro -> The Max is huge.. Really huge. You need a freaking bag to walk around with it. I had a 11 pro max, but this is just too huge. Going for the 12 pro. What Ive heard is that the camera is not evolutionary better. I would have loved to have the 12 pro max, but the size is just too huge and I have big hands lol.
Yep thats my concern. I have big hands too but the new max is going to be massive especially with a bulky case on it. plus you have the square edges and its slightly heavier. Its going to be challenging carrying it around in a pocket. I will wait out for it and consider going caseless to compensate for the size but if its too big then I might drop down to the Pro. I have a bumper case arriving this week so i might fit my 11 Pro Max in to it to get an idea of the increase in size.

I have little hands and carrying my XS Max around has given me 0 issues. I also can text one handed or with both hands. I don’t have a bulky case so my phone isn’t heavy. I have a 12 Pro Max dummy unit and holding it with the square sides is actually comfortable. I can’t wait until preorder day for the Pro Max!

For the people mentioning the 11PM and the 12PM are so big and not one hand use friendly. Have you tried to move the keyboard over to one side or the other depending on if your left or right handed? It actually at least for me is super helpful and makes one hand use for at least texting which is what I use the phone one handed for, easy.
You and me both! My battery health on my 7 Plus says 89 percent but I think it's closer to 49%. I charge twice a day now.
