iPhone 11 Pro models will start to pre-order this Friday. However, there are continuous rumors on new iPhone 12 Pro.

What are some features you hope will be included? Will this sway you to not upgrade this year? What are your thoughts? Will Apple continue with its current naming scheme?

Apple's marketing is less then consistent lately and I expect new verbiage for the iPhone 12. Maybe iPhone VII Max plus? Why did they opt to skip the iPhone 9, and go with roman numerals for 10, but then go back to regular numbers for the 11? Why market the large phone as plus, then change it to Max? The iPhone 11 is the new iPhone XR, and the pro is the new Xs. Its confusing as hell and it doesn't do them any good.

As for the phone itself, I really hope they redesign the front and back, drop the notch, drop the huge and ugly camera cutout that is now hump upon hump.

Sad to say but I think Apple may have jumped the shark.

While not a huge barometer, my kids (teenagers) and friends all think the new iPhone is ugly. I know its a tiny subset of customers but I think it speaks volumes of Apple once being the cool company may not be as cool as it used too.

Can’t wait to see a square redesign. I understand the reasoning behind the difference in upgrade cycles (in terms of 3 years for newer iPhones vs 2 years for earlier iPhone releases), but it’d still be exciting to see changes sooner.

Ordering an iPhone 12 when it’s released and upgrading relatives’ old phones when that happens.

100% agree. The naming conventions are and have been ridiculous over recent years. While many fans claim Apple has a long term master plan it appears that the marketing plan is developed on the morning coffee break and can change monthly. Do they pull the phone names out of a hat? Very strange for such a company to have such an inconsistent marketing approach.

You‘re a mod on a tech blog, yet all your criticisms are extremely shallow as they only regard the aesthetics (which are highly subjective anyway) or the naming of the devices? And these superficial points make you claim Apple „jumped the shark“? Very strange.

Isn't that pretty much the same list that was floating around for this year's upgrade? Seems a little lazy.

I'm just giving my opinion, just like everyone else and its not less shallow or deep as anyone else's. Aesthetic's is subjective which is why I offered my own opinion. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I would seriously ROTFLMFAO big-time if Apple releases the "11S" next year, knowing you guys *expect* a full new hardware redesign!!! :p

Chances are, Apple will release an 11S (not new form factor) in 2020; just look towards the past 3 form factors for answers:

4/4S/5/5S then 6/6S/7/8 then X/XS/11/(11S)? AND THEN the 12....

I can see next years phones...

12 has 4G/LTE,
&
12 “Pro” has 5G.

More fragmentation!

Because only a professional would need 5G. :D

My bets are:

2020 = iPhone 11S line = same form factor as X/Xs/11, adds 5G, OLED across the full line

2021 = iPhone 12 line = new form factor, new screen with little/no notch, USB-C
