China was only down 1-2 months back in MARCH and production doesn't even normally start until July/August. Plenty of time to recover.
But it’s not like ppl in Foxconn are normally chilling and watching Disney half the day.
We’ll see in a month though. The sooner they come the better. Can’t wait to get the 5.4”.

I stand behind my prediction of a staggered launch, which I think was lokely the plan regardless of the pandemic. September isn’t the be all end all for iPhone launches anymore. There’s always a flagship in September, but in recent years we’ve seen other models come out at different times. It keeps the fans and shareholders excited. It’s like getting Christmas more than once a year.

So based on your theory, how would you explain iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro being available on the same date?

I never said that every launch is staggered and always will be, but it could have to do with knowing that the SE would be launching in less than a calendar year.

Come to think of it, we got the 8/8+ and X as a staggered launch. The Xs and Xr staggered. Then the SE coming out less than a year after the 11 line. So if this launch isn't staggered it will be the first time since 2016 (7/7+) that Apple only has just one iPhone launch in a year. Even the year before that, the original SE launched between the 6s and the 7. So yeah, in the last 5 years Apple releasing all their phones for the year at the same time has happened only once.

I would be going for the Pro Max version. If I have to wait, I'll wait....

Same. I still love my 8+, so I don't mind waiting. In fact, I'll savor my final days with TouchID! lol.

If Apple doesn’t make the September earnings quarter than there’s (which is probably) October would be more likely
No way to know how the virus is affecting China as they don’t publicize any data

Just trying to better understand your theory. If multiple launches are better for press and investors, shouldn't the iPhone 11 family have been staggered to build excitement? Would there have been "too much" excitement with three iPhones launched over 6 months?

To me, it's just strange we heard multiple rumors indicating the iPhone X would be delayed. The X was indeed delayed. We also heard multiple rumors JDI was having trouble with notched LCD, and the XR was ultimately delayed. We didn't hear issues about the iPhone 11 series and last year's launch wasn't staggered.

Ultimately, how a trillion dollar company manages its product launches is based on far more factors than you or I have knowledge of. I think that generally speaking, launch events are good for Apple, and thus it probably doesn't take much to convince them to stagger a launch, especially in a year when their flagship line is expected to have 4 different models. Even if it wasn't the target right from day one, I simply speculate that it wound't have taken much to twist their arm into releasing 2 in early fall and the 2 closer to the holidays. So if not the pandemic, I wouldn't have been surprised if some other factor had necessitated it. Then again, I also wouldn't be surprised if not. I'm not trying to say that it's a sure thing that Apple will always stagger when launching multiple models, but I think that they can see the benefit in doing so when they can justify it.

I'd say the Pro models will come first, with the non-pro cheaper models coming later in October or later.
It will be similar to the Xs and XR staggered releases. Usually you would want the pricier models to come first so you can maximize the margins you can get for those who are unable to wait (usually less price sensitive). Then release the cheaper model to get the remainder customers who were waiting/on the fence (tend to be more price sensitive).
Yes I think doing cheaper first will eat sales of the more expensive because people will just get sick of waiting. Or there will be the people that once they know the Pro date, they will work backwards to figure out when they can get the non Pro and still be eligible for an exchange to Pro when it releases.

I definitely second spending hours on MacRumors has caused me to be impatient and prepare for preordering day, while praying that I get my device on launch day.
Get ready for the plane stalking thread of 2020!

I can’t wait until that thread surfaces this year. That’s why I want to buy from Apple this year so I can finally track my phone from China to my front door.

Yeah, you're probably right... small upgrades each year.
Clearly there are issues with 120hz when testing but i think also it gives them a major feature to show next year when it may be a smaller update.

This year seems a big upgrade in terms of cameras, night mode and video from what i gather.

Just a simple opinion poll. Do you think that all of this year’s iPhones will be available in September, there will be a staggered launch with some models coming later, or all models will come later?
I can’t even get my method hand dial refill at target. There’s no way iPhone will be in schedule lol. That’s my prediction.
