Hi! Every day since purchase (3 weeks) i have to do a hard reset of my Iphone 12. After day or two of using it camera starts to crash when trying to take a photo or switch to another video. My screen starts to randomly shut off. It is not blocking or something, it just goes black and after touching it it comes back to life. Already called Apple Support, they sad that i should send an Iphone to them so they can service it. But unfortunately i need my phone everyday so i cannot do that in this time. Anyone has problems like me? I am attaching a link to my 2 YT videos showing my problem.

Having the same problem with my 12 Pro Max. I started a thread about it, but no one was able to offer much advice other than to replace it, with I probably should have acted on sooner since my area is about to go into a Covid lockdown so Apple Stores are going to be closed for at least the next 4 weeks.

Yes, I saw your thread. I even wrote a post there. Same situation here, because of the covid there is no way for me to get to any Apple Resellers (i am living in Norway and there is no official Apple Store), and also sending Iphone to them is not an option for me, i need my phone to work. I am so sad and angry about that.. phone wasn’t cheap and there should be any situation like this.

I feel exactly the same. No way I can send my phone away for possibly weeks. In this day and age, who can unless they happen to have a spare?

Does your camera at least start working again if you restart the phone? That works for me, and so far it seems to solve the problem for a couple of days usually, so an occasional re-start until I have access to an Apple Store again seems like all I can do.

Very frustrating considering the price of this phone and how advanced the camera is supposed to be.

Also for me it is weird that it could be a hardware problem. It is not happening all the time, for me is ususally about one day after restart when it starts to happening. Maybe it is some kind of software problems? Maybe it is about some certaing apps installed, settings etc. Everyones configuration may differ but maybe mine and yours is simmilar in some way so we both have same problem? And on top of that, i literally did manage to replicate this issue on my old Iphone Xs, taking lot of pictures and switching to video mode crashed camera so badly and it was working same way as in my Iphone 12, only restart helped. Also 2 days ago i was playing with Siri on Xs, after that i could not take a picture and guess what? Same symptoms as on my new 12. So maybe it is about software? On both phones i have same apps, same settings, even same wallpaper. Never had this problem on Xs through 2 years of owning it. I wish that is only ios problem.. so some that it will be fixed so we do not have to service our phones especially in this horrible times.

OP, if you have AppleCare+ on the phone, call Apple and request an Express Replacement. They will ship you a new device (usually 1 - 2 days) and then you ship them your current phone.

If you don’t have AC+, consider getting a very cheap used phone (SE) to use while your phone is sent in for service.

I will have to look into this.

I am not sure if it works the same way in Norway. I have contacted Apple Support and my only choice was to send the phone to apple, to another country. I am living on island, there is not even a police station. Everything is more difficult here 😂

Just finished chatting with Apple support.

To make a long story short, they say that this camera issue is not covered by the warranty or AC+ and that although I can use the express replacement service, a fee would still apply. I said that it was ridiculous that I should have to pay anything if Apple sent me a defective device. The service agent agreed and said that it might be possible to get the fee waived, but first I have to try some more trouble shooting. I'm currently doing a complete factory reset of the device through iTunes. Will see if that works.

Paying for their mistake? That’s not funny. I have tried every possible way to fix it. I did factory reset through iTunes and set up Iphone as new. Did not help. Then i have installed iOS 14.3 beta, did not help and was even worse than before (my screen started flashing black after camera crashed). I was so desperate so yesterday i restored my phone back to iOS 14.2 through iTunes. I’ve had to download manually ipsw file and install it through iTunes to come back to ios 14.2. Then i updated my phone to iOS 14.2.1 strictly on device. For now my problem is gone, just wondering for how long..

Also, few months ago my iPad Pro 2018 started to act very weird, it started to randomly reset without any reason. My logs were full of ”panic full” etc, everyone on Apple community etc was saying that is clearly hardware issue and i should take it to service. But unfortunately my warranty was over, and since i was so many years on Windows and android i started to do everything i could do with it. Finally i have installed iOS 14 beta on it, then i did faactory reset and i set it up like a new device. And you know what? My iPad is working fine for nów, few months has been passed since then.

After all this steps my problem still exists. Just minute ago camera crashed after taking a photo and switching to video (that is my testing procedure). So mad at apple for poor quality control this year..

There are defects every year. That's just the nature of mass producing millions of products. Every year someone is unlucky, unfortunately.

Yeah i know. When i bought an iPhone 8 i have had discoloration on my screen. And year before that i bought a Samsung Galaxy S8 which had some hardware issue so it was giving me very loud noise from speakers, like very loud alarm. I think i am most unlucky person on this world when it comes to buying new electronic devices 😂

I've had my 12Pro max 6 weeks and it has crashed like that twice. I had to pay to have it reset last week at a repair shop. It did it again today but I charged it for a few minutes and it finally came back to the light. It had a full charge already. Also, it made a loud screeching sound a few times when put on charger. Weird.

I’m going to come on here to comment that I’m having the same exact problem of the screen blacking out. But for me, it started with iOS 14.5 (supposedly a stable release?). And I can go all day without any crashes or blackouts, but once I use WhatsApp for more than 5 or 10 minutes, it starts crashing. Then if I open any other app, it continues doing so. (Even though those other apps usually don’t black out).
