I get the appeal of those Saddleback cases but they are so goddamn ugly from the front
In the hands on apple leather sleeve thread a couple of people have their leather sleeve. Seems really nice.Been looking at the Lucrin magsafe full leather case they look really nice. Wondering if anyone has it and if it patinas well or is similar to the apple leather cases?

Yeah they look like garbage from the front (no offense). I get it that it’s 100% all real leather w/ no plastic but still.I get the appeal of those Saddleback cases but they are so goddamn ugly from the front
Yeah it is pretty pricey to be honest. But thank you the decoded one looks really nice i will probably be buying that one!Seems pretty expensive? I'd get a decoded or grams28 before I spent money on that.
Agreed. I'd prob go for one in that caseYeah they look like garbage from the front (no offense). I get it that it’s 100% all real leather w/ no plastic but still.
If Saddleback would wrap a medium thickness untreated leather around a plastic shell like most “leather” cases, they’d have a huge winner IMO.
FYI Decoded had pretty good customer service. I ordered a case April 12 and still haven't gotten it so I asked their CS about it. They responded in less than a day and are shipping me another one express at no charge.Yeah it is pretty pricey to be honest. Does it actually have MagSafe? As in, are there magnets in the case itself?? I see it's designed to work with MagSafe but I feel like that's just saying it's MagSafe compatible. Ditto with the "in-built" magnets, are they referring to the iPhone or the case? To me it's rather vague. Otherwise, I'm very intrigued with this case. Might be the case Apple should have released if it does indeed have MagSafe.Ordered the iPhone leather case from grams28.com. It ticked all the boxes - MagSafe, full leather coverage and for me, comes in a nice dark blue. My blue Apple leather case is turning black. Hoping this will hold up better. And it’s now on sale.
I’m returning my iPhone 12 max pro apple leather yellow case back to apple.
Popping out slightly but wasn’t a big issue for me, the more awful issue is the leather quality - the leather is losing colour over the edges (Not patina at all as I’ve seen on my xs leather case). Because I’m wearing jeans the case lost a out in 3 days and looks just cheap...
Instead, I’m ordering the Saddleback leather company iPhone case.
It seems to be a tough one and 100% leather.![]()
Boot Leather iPhone 12 Case
The ONLY solid leather iPhone case we know of for iPhone 12 and 11 Pro and Max. You'll quickly understand why many consider this a piece of functional art.saddlebackleather.com
anyone interested to see the details after I receive one?
Good question. I primarily want MagSafe for my Apple Wallet. I’ll let you know how that works when it arrives. The magnets on the Apple leather case do, to my taste, a perfect job holding the wallet. Too bad my blue case is now black and blue.Does it actually have MagSafe? As in, are there magnets in the case itself?? Got it today, shipping was pretty quick. The leather is definitely heavy duty. It’s thick enough that the camera lenses are protected. Buttons are stiff but i haven’t tried anything to break them in yet. It wraps pretty far around the edges which is good and bad. Good because it’ll stay on and definitely protect face first drops. Bad because it does slightly interfere with edge gestures. I’m definitely keeping it, overall I like it much more than the apple leather and the bullstrap. I’ll be interested to see off the fit loosens as it gets older but it’s definitely tight right now.
Fyi it’s slightly darker than what the pictures show.

The plastic around the camera cluster is actually blue, unlike Apple's, which is black.
That’s not to bad.Fwiw I dropped my decoded case today getting out of the car. About 3 feet onto my paved driveway. Hit the corner and landed face first. The corner has a ding in it and the top corner popped off and my screen protector is chipped.
Would this have happened in another case? Possibly, but I know the phone rebel and solid suit would have protected it without any damage. Price of using a thin layer case I guess
I’m seriously considering this case or the Decoded case. Can you comment about how the grams case has held up long term?Got my blue leather Grams28 IPhone 12 case today. Bought it to replace the blue Apple leather case that's turning black. First impressions:
The blue leather looks and feels very nice. No question it appears to be as good quality as Apple's.
Fit is perfect, buttons work very well.
The MagSafe magnet is not as strong as on the Apple case, but definitely strong enough. I only use MagSafe for my Apple leather wallet. On the Apple case, the magnet was arguably too strong and required me to hold the case and peel it off with my other hand. This can be shifted off with my thumb.

It is very slightly thicker than Apple's leather case. You wouldn't notice unless you put them side by side.
All in all, I'm very happy with it. Of course it will take months to know how it will hold up. That said I've never had a leather case as bad as Apple's this year, so I'm optimistic I won't see this one turning black.
I tried both and the Decoded was better in every way. I don't recall all the reasons I disliked the Grams but it was back in the mail for a return pretty much immediately. The buttons are the one reason that is sticking out in my mind; they looked like they were glued on poorly. They were all cockeyed and you could get your fingernail underneath all of the edges. Decoded's are more flush and are kind of in a recessed "trench" like Apple's so you don't see the edges.I’m seriously considering this case or the Decoded case. The case has held up very well Leather is like new and a great blue color. The buttons do stick out a little. That’s a point. Also make sure you’re OK with the silly numbers on the back of the case. I use an Apple wallet so they are covered. By the way, the MagSafe on this case is good. Not like some others I’ve tried, if that’s important to you.I’m seriously considering this case or the Decoded case. Can you comment about how the grams case has held up long term?
Alright thank you. Think I'll go with the Decoded for the cleaner look. Thought the grams may be worth it for the lower price but good to know.I tried both and the Decoded was better in every way.
