From what i've read on iphone 12 it's not suggested to use 5g as it drains a lot of battery, can you confirm this? Should i use 4g or auto mode?

I mean if you have the phone, why not test out each setting and see if there is a noticeable drain in your everyday use?

It's the only way to tell how it will affect your usage.

5G uses more battery vs. 4G. The difference gets less over time as the network gets better coverage and chips get more efficient.

I set my phone to 5G Auto and Data Mode to Standard. I find this a good balance of battery vs. speed.

"Lots" is a relative term.
Does 5G use "more" battery than 4G? Yeah, sometimes.
Does it make enough difference to matter? Not to me.

I prefer 4G for anything other than large downloads. I never download anything of note on my phone so I generally stick to 4G.
