In the fashion & design worlds, dark navy is the new black. The trend has been building the past couple of years. I would not at all be surprised to see Apple step into that trend. If so, they’ll do for navy what they did for rose gold - it’ll be everywhere.

Btw - in dark mode, when highlighting a word to (say) italicize, the UI is way too difficult to see. That feature needs much better contrast than white type on black. As you were.

It’s definitely a natural progression in color after the midnight green of the 11 pro’s. I still think the green is a great color and will stand the test of time, certainly compared to some of the past colors Apple has offered. If they do offer a new blue color in the Pro models, I’ll likely get it and my wife will take my 11 PM, as she really loves the color.

It's fascinating how colour can evoke such a strong connection with people.

I think waaay back to the G3 Jellybean iMac where you had people hating bold colours like orange and green. Then you had dalmation and flower power which many also ridiculed. Today, many of those are highly sought after by collectors!.

I wonder if that is the case with green and blue iPhones. But there's a reason why black and white are always available options. They're classic neutral colours that go with everything.

I wish Apple would keep the Midnight Green along with this new dark blue.
This. Kind of a bummer that they always drop exotic color choices. The Midnight Green is essentially the superior space grey of this generation. A blue option is probably less subtle.

If they keep midnight green and add this dark blue, its going to be a hard choice between the two for me. They both look great!

This was essentially confirmed months ago. This is like posting an articled titled: "New iPhone 12 models to come with 5G modems."

If you’re excited about the colour, and you use a case, can you explain why you’re excited?

I ask without snark, sincerely.

(I don’t use a case).
