Reservations for Apple's iPhone 12 Upgrade Program are once again available in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

iphone-upgrade-program-uk.jpg

The program has been unavailable in the United Kingdom since November 5 due to lockdown restrictions in England. Unfortunately, because of the way Apple's retail system operates, this meant the program was also temporarily unavailable in the UK's other three constituent countries, despite those nations' devolved governments imposing different public protection measures.

Whatever the operational issue was with Apple's retail system, it now appears to have been resolved, and customers in those countries can now book reservations in local Apple stores.

Stores in England remain open only for click-and-collect and returns, and lockdown restrictions are set to remain in place until at least December 2, when they will be reviewed by the UK government.

(Thanks, Antony!)

I switched back to up front payment and home delivery this year, the queuing 'system' at the Apple store in Birmingham last year was a mess. Does anyone know how to pay off the Barclays IUP so I can sell the 11's?

Now we just need to lose the in store requirement for the Upgrade Program and have it available via mail in to return the old phone like you can in the US - my nearest Apple Store is a 300 mile round trip since I moved to the Scottish Highlands a couple of years ago!

I did hope with Covid they might look at introducing that option here, but sadly no sign of it yet.

Glasgow potentially going into Tier 4 so I doubt it will be available for me much longer. I wish you could do it online.

Congrats to those in Ireland. I have a bone to pick with Apple about this though ...

Scotland's Total Population: 5.454 Mil
Wales' Total Population: 3.136 million
Northern Ireland Total Population: 1.885 million

This tally's up a grand total: 10.475 Million people. Canada is over 3x as large for total population and yet STILL we've not been allowed to participate by Apple. Why on earth not?!

Riiiight?!!!!

Has anyone managed to be able to reserve a spot at any store to upgrade their iPhone yet. I wake up every morning or evening whenever I check and I cannot reserve a time slot at ANY store in the UK to do this. I thought they opened up exactly for this reason? Anyone had any luck?
