iPhone 13 Launch Day Underway With Same-Day Pickup Available at Select Apple Stores

I cancelled my order that wasn't coming until October 18-25 and got a pick-up appointment for today at 2:30. How is that even right for all the people (like myself) who woke up before 5am and pre-ordered the phone??? Anyway, I'm extremely happy that I get it TODAY after-all!

Did the same, got lucky. I just checked pretty much sold out for in store pick up.

There were close to 100 ppl in line at the Lincoln Rd Store in Miami, after making the line for hours Apple didn’t allowed us to go in to the store as walk ins, instead they made made us a reservation to go back later in the day to pick up, this is the worst iPhone launch ever. Now we have to make another line to pick up the iPhone.
Typical. This is the store where the majority of Miami tourist go to. Always a line during release. Cheaper for them to buy iPhone here versus in their countries. This isn't new to me. Happens every year. This isn't the worst iPhone launch ever. Believe me. I know that store well.

Because it’s a known practice by now that Apple maintains limited stock for opening day walk-in and online pick up orders. Don’t know why folks are so surprised in this thread.

Do you think Apple will turn me down if I showed up today to try & pickup my phone? It says ready for pickup but they only gave me option for tomorrow on Saturday to pickup.

Dang just 400? For the 12 mini?
I could swear they still go for 500
I know I could have gotten a lot more for it on eBay, but the process at the Apple Store is quick and painless. I basically get $400 off the new phone. And I also got a partial refund of my previous AppleCare purchase. I should mention though that beginning with this roll-out, there's a new process for trading in a device. It's a bit more involved; they have to take photos of the device from different angles and run a special diagnostic test on it, not like the old days where they just visually inspected the device and made sure it worked.

Thank you @MacRumors. I was able to cancel my pre-order and order to pick up Today at my Apple Store. I had to wait for payday to be able to preorder, so my estimated delivery was the first or second week of October. Much happier with getting it today.

I’d look at Apple store website. I’m seeing regular iPhone 13 and mini available today and tomorrow. Pro also available, not as many. Pro Max, very limited, basically gold-colored lower storage models. New blue color unavailable. Also, no 1TB models available.

My Best Buy is only doing curbside pickup. No browsing in store! Thanks Covid.

I wanted to check out the iPhone 13 ProMotion screen in-person... so I had to go to my Verizon store instead. Thankfully I didn't have to drive 30 minutes to the closest Apple Store.

Cancel it and pick it up today instead. I preordered 10mins too late but knew it will be available for in store pick up today. I canceled my order last week and just placed an in store pick up order 15mins ago.
Only if it’s unlocked, if the number is tied to a carrier he legit will get screwed out of his phone today until it clears from pending imei.

Moved off the old grandfathered att unlimited data plan and upgraded my Xs to a 13 Pro in about 30 minutes this morning (pacific), for pickup tomorrow. About the easiest order I've ever made re: an iPhone launch-day purchase.

I picked up my Pro Max today very easily, processed trade-in. Pretty packed but everything was smooth. Employee was showing me macro images they took messing around, really cool.

Just got my 13 mini blue about 30 minutes ago. Love it! Noticeably lighter than my 11 Pro as well which is nice.

I just picked up my 13 mini (I went with 512 gb) at my local Apple store. I was one of seven people in line and got in right when the store opened. They gave me $400 for my 12 mini. Everything went smoothly. Interestingly, the only cases Apple had were MagSafe. I can confirm that cases for the 12 mini don’t fit the 13, so I ended up with a MagSafe case. When I left the store, there was no one in line.
Every single case stocked by Apple stores was MagSafe compatible last year too, absolutely nothing has changed

I ordered my phone last week for pickup today.
Worst experience with Apple.
I get emails from Apple warning not to come before my 15 minute time slot.

I had assumed a well oiled machine. I'd just be picking up a package I already ordered and paid for. I thought quick in and out. 15 minutes should be plenty, Walk in, show ID, walk out with package.

I couldn't have been more wrong. I show up at the store at my reserved 1:15pm appointment to be greeted by a 2 hour long line wrapping around the mall. I spoke with an Apple associate at the store who basically admitted the reservation time was meaningless. They were capacity limiting the store "for COVID", but apparently didn't care to capacity limit the line wrapping around the mall. People was coming in and shopping. Everything taking tons of time. No expedited process what so ever.

Extremely disappointed that Apple's messaging regarding in store pickup set such an unrealized expectation.

I had assumed due to COVID, they would be discouraging the past years mobs of people crammed into a store.

Overall, awesome experience. I did not get a phone, will likely give up on the iPhone 13. Apple launch approach very lax and not safe at all for anyone concerned about COVID. Its back to the launch day mob. Apple seemed to favor in store inventory over delivery. Doesn't make sense to me.

Exact same experience at the apple store near me. The reservation time is worthless if I have to wait in a 2 hour line to pick up a phone I paid for! I had an appointment at 1:30 PM and just left because I had to get back to work. Extremely disappointing that they bungled it like this. I’m guessing people just showed up whenever and the stores decided not to hold people to their reservation times.

Sucks you got this experience. In Miami store I went to I arrived 15 mins earlier. No line. In out in 5 mins. I declined to activate there. I said I’ll activate later tonight. I also said I’ll ship iPhone back to Apple for trade in (Apple upgrade program) he said no problem. Not shopping it back. Sold it this morning and made $300 on it after pay off to citizen. Gotta like high resale on iPhones during this pandemic.

My husband and I got the last 2 Pro Max 128GB, both Sierra Blue, at the Rehoboth Beach AT&T store yesterday morning at around 9:00. I was told to call AT&T to ask why I wasn’t able to get the $500 off.

Apple story gets crazier.

So I purchased the phone a week before launch day, had a reservation time 1:15pm. I show, 2 hour wait. Reservation doesn't matter. Of no use. I left. Apple support didn't care. iMessage support hung up on me. No response.

At 4pm launch day after reading some forums here, I check status about ordering yet another phone. It listed if you order it would arrive shipped to your house October 11-14. For in store, just show up and check, no reservation. But to my amazement they also have another delivery option, for an extra $9 have a delivered TODAY via courier, from the same store that had the 2 hour.

I did that and received the phone at 6pm without even having to leave my house. From the same store that wouldn't let me in unless I stood in line for 2 hours despite having a reserved time and already having paid for a phone. From the same Apple where support ignored my text messages, did not give me any other recourse or option for ordering and generally didn't care.

Very strange experience. The store experience was so bad I was seriously rethinking my whole relationship with Apple products. My prior phone is a iPhone 12 mini, upgrading to iPhone 13 mini. My tests so far indicate the camera is better on the 12 than the 13. I haven't found any compelling improvement other than battery life. I think I'll keep my 12 Mini.
