Apple will see flagship iPhone 13 production begin on Indian soil early next year, courtesy of Foxconn's factory in Chennai, reports the Economic Daily News.

The plans come following a reported improvement of semiconductor supply in the region, as well as a successful trial production run of the 6.1-inch iPhone 13 by Foxconn.

Mass production is set to start in February, and the Foxconn plant is expected to directly supply the local domestic market as well as shore up oversees demand, with 20-30% of iPhones produced in India usually earmarked for export.

Since the launch of Apple's iPhone 13 series in September, the iPhone 13 has proved the most popular model in India, selling more than the high-end iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Still, the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 are said to be the current best-selling iPhones in the country. The two models are also produced by Foxconn, while the second-generation iPhone SE is produced by Wistron's factory in Bengaluru.

A report earlier in the year said Taiwanese Apple supplier Pegatron would share iPhone 13 mini orders with Foxconn in India, producing the smallest model at its own factory in Chennai. With the addition of the iPhone 13 series to its Indian manufacturing plans, Apple will make nearly 70% of iPhones sold in the country locally.

Good Move. There's a huge price difference in Imported iPhones vs Locally Made Ones. This really helps Apple sell a lot more.

Side Note: Looking at the comments here, seems like having Indian Tech CEOs and even a god darn US Veep hasn't helped us get acceptability in the mainstream.

The cost of producing a phone doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be cheaper to buy surely?
That 'god darn US Veep' isn't really Indian is she. 12 posts in, exactly what are you trying to say here? Be clear.

They are saying that India has protective laws that names imported good way more expensive than the ones produced there, and of course more expensive than the same goods other parts of the world, so producing in India Apple will be able to offer iPhones at a price that’s on the same level than the price they offer in other countries. It’s not that hard to understand. They are not saying the product will cost less that what you pay it for if that’s what makes your braì irrational and incapable of understanding this.

Indian made goods attract lower taxes for buyers. iPhone 12 costs $250 less than iPhone 13 here. Hopefully 13's price will drop by March as well.

Her mother is an Indian, so that makes her an Indian American. I was just responding to hateful comments before my post. I am not sure why my disarming response is the one that irked you.

Good move. Apple was too dependent on China. Diversification would help reduce risks.
The next problem would be: how much Indian production could replace Chinese production? It’s the same dilemma compared to oil industry, except, worse and difficult to negotiate around.

Will it make a difference with the pricing with the rest of the world or it will be same or probably costlier?

Good Luck. It does not seem like they are selling as well as Apple hoped.

I'm waiting for the iPhone 14. with the 48mp camera.

Like WOZ said. I see no difference in performance between iPhone 12 and iPhone 13.
well, iPhone 13 isn't supposed to be a good upgrade for iPhone 12 customers.
It never is the case from one generation to the next one.

Things are different if you consider iPhone 11 or even better switching from iPhone XR.

Hold on a moment. You're telling me that, "They are saying that India has protective laws that names imported good way more expensive than the same goods other parts....? that my, "braì irrational and incapable of understanding", and I'm the one with the problem?

None of what you've said actually makes sense. If you're going to insult people you'd do well to ensure that the glass house you live in is fact Gorilla glass.
