Don't bring in the iPhone. Use the free express replacement service that is included with your applecare.

Also for people who haven't updated to iOS 26 yet just get the replacement regardless. You will get a replacement with iOS 26 and then you can simply switch to the iOS 27 beta. I tried it and so far it really seems more usable than iOS 26 ever was.

Off topic I guess but I get nearly 3 days use between charges out of my 13 mini with about 98% battery health.

I've stayed on iOS 17.7 as I didn't see the need to upgrade - it runs fast and efficiently.
And forced low power mode to always stay on using automation (not sure I can see the difference in speed).

It's solid and dependable for travel and long weekends etc without a charger.

I think the key is erase and re-install the iOS every couple of years or so otherwise it starts to bog down.

No Apple care and they replaced mine in an hour or so. Wasn’t worth it though lol.

If you did not upgrade beyond iOS 15.x then it would feel like brand new, but with your comment, I'm guessing you either allowed auto-upgrade or upgraded the iOS to the latest version.

yes 26 killed it. Ive since learned to keep my ipad mini 6th gen on 18 (I think its 18? or 17). And mb air is on sequoia.

Bought a replacement battery but waiting on the iOS 27 public beta at least (though currently running the developer beta with no issues so far)

I just performed the Developer beta 2 update to iOS27 on my 13 mini. The first thing I noticed is it removed that annoying “Indexing in Progress” message in Settings.

The update seems to be running smoother on my 13 mini as well😎

I guess I’m left with two sensible options here:

1. Upgrade to iOS 26 and get the battery replaced. Then in 3 months update to iOS 27. Risk of battery degradation in that time.

2. Stay on iOS 18, wait 3 months for iOS 27 and then replace the battery.

Thoughts? I’m veering toward option 2 as I charge to-from work with tethered CarPlay and can also top up at work.

Personally, I'm staying with Option #2

With my usage, I find myself in need of a charge-up for my Mini every three days (or so).

Probably doubble-tapp typing likke wwwhat I have on my old Tacttile Pro 4 keyboard 😉
If you looked at my original post I was referencing a clearly misrepresented so-called high capacity battery for the 13 mini sold on Amazon that was advertised having 22,800 mAh battery which clearly can not happen due to actual size inside the 13 mini. It was not a typo.

I have a 13 mini I recently had Apple replace the battery in it and another where I installed that high capacity diagnostic compatible battery in. I’m comparing both over long term to see how well the aftermarket SUNWODA battery will perform over time by collecting actual data between both devices. Only time will tell but for now the 13 mini with the aftermarket battery has been performing very well.

I’m posting this based on what I am seeing over time. I do agree some are simply over rated crap made in China being sold. There’s no way you can have a 15,000 mAh battery, or 22,800 mAh battery in this example below, inside a 13 mini.

Here is an example of one of those fake batteries being sold for the 13 mini I found for sale on Amazon.
Heck, you couldn’t even have a 5000 mAh battery that size.

3 days? That’s got to be a record of sorts. When new I was already impressed getting 1 1/2 days out of my Mini. But I was also glad that for an inter continental flight I bought the MagSafe battery pack. Still use it frequently actually.

Apple hopefully won’t go nuts on the price for battery replacement after the massive RAM hike.

I really don't use it nearly as much a most, it seems.

I just returned from a 4-day conference in Orlando, and I finally got to tap it's potential. There were a few days when--after a full day of comprehensive use--I was on 10% after dinner. Tuesday, my battery gave-out just after I pulled the trigger on a Lyft at 9pm *grr*

I charged it up Tues night, had a full 3/4 day at the conference (the web portal using convention-wide WIFI was essential), enjoyed a good audio book on the 1h flight, navigated a good bit of GPS/pick-up coordination, and just now put it to the charging cable at 12% 🤷‍♂️

This is why I researched and learned how to do the battery replacement service myself using the same Apple certified tools the people at the Genius Bar are using. I then found a good high capacity diagnostic compatible battery, a SUNWODA brand, with 2633mAh giving my 13 mini 110% battery health and lasting me the entire day on one charge. At least doing this service myself, I know what is going into my device and I have longer battery life in the process.

I would love to get 110% battery health. Where did you get your SUNWODA battery?

Edit: Oh Macdctr's account is suspended. I guess he's not going to answer. 😢
