I recently bought an iPhone 13 mini and restored from my old 11, but… even with all settings, notifications, and everything disabled it still draining battery like crazy, almost 6-8% a hour on standby. I did a test with both at a 100%, run a game on the 11 and kept the 13 on standby locked. After half an hour, the mini was at 97% the 11 was at 99% after half a hour of gaming, the mini was supposed to have better battery than the 11, wasn’t it? Should I try erasing everything and setting it as new? Just by the time of writing this post it drained another 1 %

How long have you has the 13 Mini?

Post a 24 hr battery chart with apps listed below show time by selecting “SHOW ACTIVITY”.

general rule of thumb is to wait a few days for the system to be optimized and indexed

Have you restarted the phone since you first set it up? My phone was running hot and draining battery faster than usual after I had set it up, and both issues went away after a reboot.

Yeah, restarted about 3 times, specially since my backup carrier service eSIM is having some problems and not activating in this new phone, this one also impacted battery quite a lot when it was searching for the signal all the time, so I deactivated the second line for the time being until I manage to fix this one

It looks like before you charged your phone you got about 2 hrs, 47 mins, 45% battery used. The estimate to 100% battery usage, 6 hrs 1 mins. That is well within the battery usage you should be from the 13 Mini.

A couple of other things you could do. Settings->Mail->Accounts->Fetch New Data->Push disable, FETCH hourly. One thing I do, when I put my phone in standby when I go to sleep, I turn on low power mode. This can save a lot of battery life. It looks like you already have Dark Mode enabled.

Watch this. I think it will give you some perspective on the 13 Mini battery life.

You might have a defective phone. I get 6-7.5 hours screen on time on my Mini and that’s still with about 30% battery life left before I go to bed.

End of Day report: 19pm - 21% Usage graphic below, tried to play some games and youtube for a while to see how it would behave.

Tomorrow I'll try going about the day with Whatsapp Unnistalled since it seens to be the one app using the most battery, and it's not even on screen time, all background activity. let's see tomorrow how the device will fare.

You’ve either got something eating your battery in the background, a setting that’s causing battery usage or a faulty device.

I’d try restarting the phone, or setting it up as new and if still bad, then your next step is to contact Apple support or take it into an Apple store.

It looks like you had 4 hrs 22 mins, 77% battery usage. How long have you had the phone? It does not look like you had a lot background activity. It looks like every hour you had pretty big battery drain.

Since friday

How did you first setup your phone? Maybe give it a day or more and if you are still seeing big battery drain, maybe do a backup of your phone. Could try Reset All Settings. Another thing, put your phone in Recovery mode and update, this will do an update of 15.1. I did this yesterday and it resolved a touch registration issue I was having. Just a thought.

Carried things from iPhone 11, not a clean install. Tonight I will try setting it up as new and see how it behaves tomorrow

Depending on your type of usage, you may get 6 - 7hrs of SoT with the mini. If you are expecting more or struggling to get more after a clean install because of what you are doing, your type usage may be the problem. I would turn off background app refresh. That is a big battery killer.

I have to apologize. I just realized that you have a 13 Mini. Disregard what I wrote. I was thinking you had a 13 Pro Max.

It’s struggling to get to 5h and that’s with only 1h of YouTube and 30min of light gaming only, it was draining battery like crazy on standby, almost 6% per hour with device locked on the desk and that’s with notifications, background refresh and all enabled. Those 5h are with the device barely functional, nothing enabled to work on the background, black wallpaper, dark mode etc…

I’ll try setting it as new and tomorrow I’ll report back with the results.

Maybe it related to your cell signal. How much time are you spending using cellular vs WiFi?

You’re absolutely right. There is nothing wrong with your 13 Mini - it’s just how it is. Apple states 17 hours video playback for both 11 and 13 Mini, but that’s a gigantic load of crap. Also seems that those YouTube battery contest videos are fake, obviously promoting new models.
I bought a 13 Mini and experienced the same issue: poor battery life. Returned and got a brand new 11 which can do 11 hours of screen time

Call me old fashioned, but what are people doing looking at their phone for 11 hours on a day?
I feel the same way! Whenever I have a day where I look at my SOT and it’s above 5 hours I get a little depressed and mutter to myself “wtf am I doing on my phone so much?!”

And then I come on here and see people who literally spend 8-10 hours a day looking at their devices and it just takes it to a whole new level of depressed! And I think man their eyes must hurt!! iPhones are cool but holy crap what an addiction they are for millions! Rest your eyes people!
