You’re absolutely right. There is nothing wrong with your 13 Mini - it’s just how it is. Apple states 17 hours video playback for both 11 and 13 Mini, but that’s a gigantic load of crap. Also seems that those YouTube battery contest videos are fake, obviously promoting new models.
I bought a 13 Mini and experienced the same issue: poor battery life. Returned and got a brand new 11 which can do 11 hours of screen time
Testing the battery obviously

dual sim also sucks juice , bear that in mind.
My spouse is going from an Xs to a 13 Pro. I think the dual SIMM thing really does lessen battery life. Two different carriers (one phone number is work that has a different service provider than our family's).

I think she is going to be disappointed in the lack of improvement of battery life with this upgrade. Not the Xs was checked by the Apple Genius Bar and they said it was fine.

Yesterday I've done a fresh setup, Today got it out of the charger at 6AM, now it's almost 18PM and it's with 20% battery and 5 and a half hours of screen time. Almost the same as yesterday but vastly improved im my opinion, since yesterday I did almost nothing with it except for some youtube and half an hour of gamming, today I really tried to do things in it, more than I do on a normal day, just to see how far it would go. I think that 5h30 screen time with dual SIM active and on wifi 85% of the time on a area with bad tower coverage (no 5G in my country, only 4g) seens decent enough, I think.... less than I expected from it being honest, If I had it go for 10% on battery probably I would be able to extract one more hour of screen time on light usage. Anyway, not ideal but that is without any improvements other than background refreshing disabled, yesterday I had to disable everything to get to 5h

It is hilarious how people blame someone for spending 11 hours on a phone just to defend Apple
Don't get me wrong, I think it is nice to have long battery life in the sense that it can last you multiple days.

To spend 11 hours on a phone in one day however, well that can cause all sorts of problems in life I imagine.

I think it’s time to internalize that 13Mini won’t give you the kind of battery life you need. Get a 13.

They only claim ‘up to’… and IME, their specs are reasonably conservative if you tune your settings for it. But out of the box, with all the default features/setting turned on and running… well, that’s another story.

Here’s my 2+yo XR with 15/16hrs internet/video Apple spec, on ~40% (71-31%) batt, and mostly wifi. I avg 7-8hrs/day from new (w/BT keyboard, it’s also my ‘home computer’).

Guess it depends on what you are doing because even with AnadTech the iPhone 11 came up better off than the 13 Mini

On PhoneArena there is a bit more of a breakdown if you add iPhone 11 to the Battery comparison tool…

Even with the A15, I really wouldn’t expect the 13 Mini to perform better in battery life than the iPhone 11 in all honesty, it seems a bit of a stretch.

I guess users will always see varying mileage due to use patterns.

FWIW I used an iPhone 11 for 2 years. By the end it had 85% batt life and got about 7 hours SOT. With this new 13 mini I’m at 50% batt with 4 hours SOT so I’d say its exceeded my expectations

I recently bought an iPhone 13 mini and restored from my old 11, but… even with all settings, notifications, and everything disabled it still draining battery like crazy, almost 6-8% a hour on standby. I did a test with both at a 100%, run a game on the 11 and kept the 13 on standby locked. After half an hour, the mini was at 97% the 11 was at 99% after half a hour of gaming, the mini was supposed to have better battery than the 11, wasn’t it? Should I try erasing everything and setting it as new? Just by the time of writing this post it drained another 1 %
I feel you. The difference is I'm using 12 mini. It's confusing to me since many of YouTube reviews proof the iPhone 13 mini or even the 12 mini can compete with the 11 battery endurance in light daily usage. For me, the experience is kinda different. I'm using the 12 mini with 100% battery health and experiencing 5++% overnight battery drain even in airplane mode.
