Just charged up my new phone. Starting downloading my apps after it charged to 100%.

did the iOS update from 15.0 to 15.0.1

my battery was at 99%. When the update finished it was down to 93%. Is this normal after an update for the battery to drain a bit? Does it use a lot of battery to do any update?

13 Pro Max. Today off charger at about 7:45 AM. It’s now 10:15 PM. 8:20 on-screen time. 47% remaining.

^^^^^^

……but he claims to want a thicker heavier phone, with a larger battery he doesn’t need. Makes total sense.
Still trolling I see lol.

For the 1000th time, YES!!! Lol

I hope the next iPhone is way thicker and has a 6000 mAh battery.

Let me know when you’d like me to repeat the answer again.

You guys aren’t answering my question

You do have to realize that after you finished charging your phone to 100% and unplug it and use it (i.e installing apps, and updating your phone software), it will use a lot of power and therefore it will eat battery, it's normal.

Mine dropped maybe 1% after updating to 15.0.1.

I'm not sure why people are posting how long their batteries are lasting when the OP wasn't asking about that. The OP is asking about why his battery dropped 6% for just updating from 15.0 to 15.01. That is not normal. It could just be a glitch but it's not normal.

my 13 Pro Max reached 100% charge at 8PM on Friday. (bought it on that same day)

it is now 10:45AM on Sunday. Still showing 39% battery life. I have been using the phone quite extensively for taking pictures, watching videos, listening to music, Netflix catalog browsing, browsing, updating, Apple Maps, etc..... what does one gotta do to use the battery down to 10% or less? This must be Apple's new plan to disrupt my biological clock which, for years, has been conditioned to take the iPhone and connect it to a charger every single day!

I am very impressed with the battery life as well. Two things to consider, one is obvious and the other is less so. In addition to increased efficiency, the battery is much larger than even 11 Pro Max battery on my wife's phone. The other issue is that, after getting your 13 Pro Max, it will take a day or so to calibrate and complete all the processes after first setting it up. Moreover, the device settings and personal habits and preferences will cause SoT to vary greatly as well. It's encouraging that the battery test videos showing full screen brightness and numerous activities of extended duration show such great results.

An update..
I last charged to 100% at 2PM yesterday/Thursday. It is now 10:15 AM Friday. I have almost 9 hours Screen On and have 41% battery remaining.

I think at this point we all understood quite well that the Max has a really long lasting battery 😆

the battery life is way too long. (can't believe I'm actually "complaining" about this)

it's so long that the charger can cable feel lonely. they used to hook up with the phone every night. now it's only once every 2 nights...

in fact, if I use the phone lightly, it has lasted more than 80 hours. (3+ days!)

Probably because nobody knows why OP lost 6%. Instead people are sharing their numbers, so OP could run the same scenario of actually using the phone for the next couple days and see, if he has the same battery life. Otherwise no point in talking about "battery drop while updating" if OP's battery is performing well just like other people's numbers.

It’s normal. When you update apps I would think the phone got warm because of all the CPU power required to download all those apps at a time. Updating, downloading and installing the software update would require of power as well. All these contribute to the phone being warm/hot to touch at the back. Just remember that when the phone is hot or warm, expect battery life to take a hit for the period.
