Iphone 13 pro max battery dropped to 50% after 2 hours of browsing, overheating after 20 min conversation on the phone, famous 120hz screen underwhelming to say the list, screen went dark after 2 min exposure to sunlight even though my auto setting was off. I’m not sure where all this hype about battery life is coming from. I’m glad I haven’t returned my 11pro max with 95% battery health after 2 years of daily use.
Overall, it’s worth the upgrade for pre 11 pro era. Otherwise, it’s nothing special.

My battery life is great on my 13promax and that’s comparing it to my previous 12promax. Are you sure it wasn’t because the phone is still programming in the background and learning your usage?
I’m 100% certain. However, it also could be due faulty hardware. I’m curious if there are other folks that experienced the same.

Sounds more like buyers remorse, you didn’t feel a huge difference from your previous device so you need to convince yourself that returning it was the best option. You did that with this thread.

Congrats!

You had a defect unit therefore every unit must be this bad. What a truly idiotic attitude -.-
My battery was still above 30% after 14h of use involving browsing, music listening, YouTube watching, taking and editing pictures and videos, no overheating issues. 120hz is fantastic. Nothing you stated applies to my unit and apparently most others as well.

I took my 13PM off charge at 7am, its now 1pm its used 24% battery after pretty much constant use in some for or another including internet browsing, YouTube, Spotify podcasts and general use. So far this iPhone seems to be the best I've had in terms of battery.

It's true the 13 pro is probably a minimal bump over a 12 pro but for me at least It performs well, looks and feels good, has excellent battery and cameras and is quite simply a pleasure to use. I think some people had too high expectations, this is just another iteration of the iPhone that does what its supposed to and does it well with some added efficiencies and perks on top.

And ?

My 13PM has gone from 90% to 29% with 4h 4m screen on time (nothing intensive; Safari, Mail, Reddit, Music) and 1h 18m screen off time, mostly music (58m), in the last 24 hours.

I feel like that’s a bit too much drain for that usage on the Pro Max, given what other people are getting? This will be my first full discharge though, so maybe just time needed to settle and calibrate? I’ll keep an eye on it.

I should mention this is without 5G too; 4G only. Also sub 50% brightness.

Don't make judgements until the phone has had a few days to stabilize.
To be fair, literally the next line of my post, which you excluded from the quote, was:

My other iphones ( including 12 (non-pro) ) never stabilized. They were excellent from the first day. Where this “a few days” to stabilize is coming from?
ICloud and app syncing I understand (this takes 12 hours max) but anything beyond that shouldn’t be an issue.

Yeah seems a bizarre one for me. No phone before this had overheating issues etc needing a “few days to stabilise”

Not having any of those issues at all device is almost perfect IMHO.
Give it a few days and see if things change.

For those experiencing bad battery

do you : have the optimize battery health checked in settings

have you seen the apps which are using your battery the most ? Is there an oddity amongst them

are there any newish safari extensions you are using since iOS 15 officially launched?

This is day 2 of the release. You get 14 days to return it. At least give yourself 7 of those days to experience the phone. Try restarting the phone once or twice in those 7 days. Only 2 days into a release is not even a viable complaint in my opinion.

I’ve seen similar complain in the other post. Hence, curious how common this issue is or it’s just bad luck with the particular phone.
