Hey All, so I picked up an IPhone 13 in Product Red at an Apple store last weekend because my XS bit the dust. I really wanted a 13 Pro Max at the time but none were in stock. I’m sitting at my iMac right now with a Max in the cart (Verizon-$800 trade in broken phone “deal” but keep looking at this beautiful Product Red 13. Anyone decide to ultimately purchase the regular 13 over the Pro? I thought this was gonna be easy to send back but…..
A.) Wasn’t expecting the battery to be this good.
B.) Feels great in the hand/lighter than Pros.
C.). Subjectively looks better than any of the Pro colors.

Is the 120hz refresh rate on Pros really THAT good?

I think you answered your own question. The phone you bought does everything you need, cost you less money, and looks great. Personally, I’d keep what you have and decide if you need a new phone next year.

I think the Product Red color, on this years phones, is the best red they’ve ever used. I prefer more subtle colors, but the red this year is beautiful.

I returned a 13 pro (sierra blue) and switched to a 13 mini product red and love it. The colour is super bold and striking and the size & weight is great.

ProMotion looks good, but it’s not like the animations at 60hz were laggy. I found the difference noticeable but not worth the added bulk and size compared to the mini.

Pro motion is great if you can see it. There's plenty of threads going around with people claiming they can't tell the difference. Some can see it and it's worth it to them. Some can't and it's a waste of money to them. I'm also use to the heavy weight now and it feels weird when I was holding my niece's iphone 13.

Fair enough. I use to have an 8+ but switched to XS. I’m wondering about the heft of the 13 Max….

Sorry but the colour is not better than any of the Pros, to me it looks like a toy, but you do you

Once I drop it without a case then it won’t be so pretty!🤷 Maybe a clear case in the future. Darn that Max….

You say you love the color, but yet, you have it in a case. For your information, you can get a product red silicone case (just like the one in your pics) for that 13 Pro Max you were looking at.

Different Optinion here: I think, ProMotion is a reason for the Pros.
The difference between 60 and 120 Hz on iOS is a bit different than i noticed on Android (Oneplus 8 Pro), but i can't help it: No matter how smooth and optimized your animations are, 60 fps is 60 fps. I can see that.
It's not laggy in terms of "uneven animations" or "dropped frames", it's just constantly choppy because these small "steps" are noticeable to me.
It doesn't just feel a bit choppy, but also less responsive somehow.

Same with my iPad Pro 10,5". When i disable ProMotion, it suddenly feels like 4 years older.

ProMotion on the iPhone 13 Pros, in my Opinion, makes the device feel as smooth as it deserves / as it should be.
Is 60 hz unuseable? Nah, noone "needs" 120 Hz. But it does look nicer. And i can see it.

But this is just my personal preference. I'm a tech-geek, i love this smoothness.
I even wish every Movie would be shot in 60 fps (or at least 48 fps as a new standard), and not that blurry 24 fps that's called "cinematic".

But i wish, the Pros didn't had this stainless steel crap, but aluminum... The device is heavier than it could be.

Anyway, my advice: If you didn't seen ProMotion yet, and you're happy with your iPhone 13, then just be happy and don't think about that.

I’m a big fan of the 13’s red too. I’m pretty sure it’s about the same red they used on the XR, which is what I have (in red, of course).

So, the Product Red 13 is heading back to Apple as Verizon had a gold 13 Max 256GB in stock and it will be here this Wednesday! It’s been since the 6+ since I’ve had a bigger phone.

Same but my 13P was graphite. Absolutely loved it but wanted to give the Mini a try. It's gorgeous. Obviously you have the battery tradeoff but with some iOS tweaking it should last a whole day with no heavy use.

This is the combo i'm aiming for (once the phone arrives), although my sides will be exposed with the case I have, so more of those stunning red aluminium sides will be on show ?

That's a great case btw. Love how the buttons aren't covered. Are they easy enough to 'find'?

To me it was camera, the macro lens’s and raw video.

Things I use, on my dslr. Or a macro camera I use for electronics, the phone at times being able to replace them both, and in my pocket most of the time.
Having that in my phone is just killer.

I have never used a 120 refresh rate so not sure about that. Pretty sure I will like it.

Battery life from the 13 and the pro seems about a tie.

I went with a pro, but sure went back and forth before I did.

A trade In and a veteran discount helped ease the pain.

That’s lovely. It’s a keeper. I don’t have 120Hz turned on , makes little difference on iOS. But on android oh boy it does.

I’d read the 120Hz turned on contributes to better battery life on the Pro do to it being variable…

It is a really nice color. I like the case too. I use to have an iPhone 8 product red with a red leather Apple case on it. It was a beautiful combination.
