Hey All, so I picked up an IPhone 13 in Product Red at an Apple store last weekend because my XS bit the dust. I really wanted a 13 Pro Max at the time but none were in stock. I’m sitting at my iMac right now with a Max in the cart (Verizon-$800 trade in broken phone “deal” but keep looking at this beautiful Product Red 13. Anyone decide to ultimately purchase the regular 13 over the Pro? I thought this was gonna be easy to send back but…..
A.) Wasn’t expecting the battery to be this good.
B.) Feels great in the hand/lighter than Pros.
C.). Subjectively looks better than any of the Pro colors.
Is the 120hz refresh rate on Pros really THAT good?
Congrats on your new iPhone. Totally agreed with you on point A,B and C.
Red on red is pretty! It's a great choice.
There is absolutely NO upside to ProMotion. If you don't notice it, it's a waste of money. If you do, it's addictive.
To me it's not that Promotion feels buttery smooth, every latest iteration of iPhones bar the iPhone 4 and 6 Plus have consistently felt that way.
Rather it feels more "real time", it almost feels like my finger has a more "direct" contact with my content, every manipulation on the screen feels so satisfying, ever though it's the same old actions of scrolling/pinching/swiping, the feeling it evokes is all so new.
Having owned the iPad Pro for awhile, I would assuming that it feels about the same but strangely it doesn't. It could be it's less clucking form factor, higher pixel per inch, greater contrast ratio or a mixture of all the above but screen manipulation on the iPhone Pro Max is quantitatively more gratifying, more enjoyable. It's the best experience on an iOS device right now.
Other than that, in no particular order, there is
1. Some form of stabilisation on all cameras
2. 3x Zoom lens
3. Macro capability
4. Brighter Ultra Wide lens
5. Brighter Wide lens
6. Bigger sensor paired with the Wide lens
7. ProRaw
8. ProRes
9. Bigger screen(The main reason I upgraded, older eyes)
10. Brighter screen
11. 50% more Ram for keeping things in the background without reloading
12. Faster peak GPU performance for speedy performance when it matters
13. Lower sustained GPU wattage for more hours of gaming or any GPU intensive task
14. Insanely long battery life
If most of these things don't matter, it makes sense to stick with the iPhone 13. Really it's the sensible choice.
Also.... the wait time for the iPhone 13 Pro Max is pure madness. It is already Dec, yet it's still so difficult to find one in the right size and colour.
But if you do, might I suggest taking a look at the Sierra Blue colour, it looks so much better in real life than pictures.
