Hi.

As I’m very prone to any issues with displays. Especially those new OLEDs (long time iPhone 11 user because of LED screen) what would you do?

Does anyone have some experiences concerning the color shift while holding the phone. While rotating it a little bit those displays start to shift their colors.

I’ve seen an iPhone 13 and a 13 pro from friends.
What I recognized was that the iPhone 13 display was ‘better’ than the 13 Pro Display which immediately color shifts, while the 13 holds it’s color a little bit longer.

Now was that just a coincidence?

Probably. The Pro is brighter and has the higher refresh rate, but as I understand it, they are fundamentally the same display technology.

Not me anyway. I've have a 13 Pro, having previously had an 11 Pro - both displays look terrific to me. I've never noticed anything like what you describe, even just now when I've tried to look for it.
what would you do?
I think if you have highly specific preferences like this, there's no substitute for making your own judgement, whether through borrowing a friend's phone or going to the Apple store. We all perceive things like colour differently, and if it's a big deal to you, fair enough.

At this point in the release cycle, I'd probably hold on to my 11 for a few more months and get a 14 anyway, but that's a separate issue.

Screen quality regarding color tint, color shift, contrast, and brightness varies from one phone to the next. It’s a crapshoot what you’ll end up with. They’re all different within each model.
Line 10 iPhone 13s up in a row and they’ll all look slightly different.

Thx for your reply.

I meant something like this:

It starts changing it's color much earlier with the 13 Pro in comparison to the 13.

Yes - I know. But what I mean is in the post above... Color shift when off axis start immediately when using the 13 Pro in comparison the 13.
Yes, on THAT exact 13 and THAT exact 13 Pro.

What @now i see it meant is, when you take a different 13 and a different 13 Pro, chances are good that they behave the opposite! Or that the of axis color shift isn’t there at all on both. Or very bad on both.

It’s the screen lottery, going on since like forever.

Thanks, I think I understand what you mean - I've just never seen it in the flesh. Whether this is me being lucky with the 8-9 iPhones I've owned, or just that I'm oblivious, I'm not sure.

In any case, surely the best thing to do would be to go to an Apple store (or whatever retailer) and buy one in person? You can check there and then if it suits you.
