JerryRigEverything: insulting Apple products in dull monotone since 2013.

Apple has some explaining to do WRT the "sapphire" lens. I see some lawsuits coming. If the lens cover is no better than glass, that's a problem. Curious how the Apple Watch models that supposedly have sapphire glass perform on the same test.

I always get micro scratches on the screen just carrying the phone in my purse (no keys or metal objects ever). I’ve appreciated never needing an additional cover for the camera lenses because they’ve never scratched like the front glass. If that ever changes, ima be

Protip: case and a screen protector prevent destroyed Jesus Phone. Seriously you can get both for under a hundred bucks, and they protect a thousand dollar investment.

the rule is: if you have a case on - it never falls down. But the minute you don't have the case ...

the sapphire crystal camera lens scratched at a level 6, which is notable because sapphire typically ranks at level 9 on the Mohs hardness scale.

If the lens is scratching so easily, it's not sapphire. Sounds like Apple are no longer using sapphire camera lenses on the (non-Pro) iPhone 14?

Unscientific?

If someone is able to make predictions about the outcome of a test, and the results are repeatable time after time, isn’t that the definition of scientific?

So basically it will scratch easily unless you put a screen protector on it , and probably replace that every year if you want a clear screen.

This is what I’ve had to do just to avoid the micro scratches on my iPhones from putting it in and out of pockets.

These videos remind me of before iPhone was water resistant youtubers would put iPhones under the sink tap then time how long it took before they turned off.

They were dumb then and they’re still dumb now 🤷‍♂️

14 pro max its really tough yep it's really hard. The banana doesn't fall off if the monkey takes care of it

Yeah that frame will dent and scratch and Apple doesn’t even have a category for it in AppleCare, they act like it’s impossible.

actual sapphire for the screen & back with unlimited $29 AC+ claims is the ideal solution.

Have we ever got a comment from Apple on why the allegedly sapphire camera lens has been scratching at a 6 in the last few iPhones?
Yes:

I checked my IPhone X which I used for ca. 5 Years: The camera is in perfect condition no micro scratches. I handled it roughly because I knew it was made of sapphire: cleaning with my dry shirt when needed.
