Looks promising? The 14 Pro Max lasted around 30 minutes shorter than the 13 Pro Max in the same tests. It doesn’t make sense given the more efficient chip and display. The battery capacity should not have been reduced.

It does have a slightly smaller battery compared to last year and the screen is only more efficient when using AOD. AOD actually goes all the way down to 1Hz, while using the phone only goes down to 10Hz. Still not bad at all though.

I thought the 1-120 hz was a cross the entire UI..?

Using a smaller battery and leaving a big block of plastic where the sim tray once was (no seriously, they actually did this) is insulting to be honest. Not only do they remove a useful feature but refuse to utilize that space for anything meaningful. Every minute counts for smartphone battery life.

The 14 PM should be clearing 10 hours in his testing.

I agree. But what would they sell as a upgrade next year? 😂

I disagree.

9 hours and 31 minutes is amazing if you constantly use your iPhone.

I never use it for that long constantly.

No battery test is the same, no two batteries are the same. There’s always going to be a random effect. Even look at the iPhone 12 compared to the 13.. it was much closer this time. Usually in most battery life tests the 13 beats a 12 by an average of an hour and a half.

Apple also didn’t speak once about the battery life improving at the keynote. They just kept saying “All day battery life” where as in the 13 keynote they spoke on an entire segment about how much better the battery life was compared to the 12.

A lot could be going on in the background, could be software gelling with dynamic island, AOD, you never know. But I kind of suspected the battery life was going to be a little less this year.

Any answer available on why the size of the battery was reduced by Apple compared to last year especially as the Pro had a slight increase? Was it about space for the other components?

IOS 16 isn't terrible on battery but its a bit less than 15.6 I was on before the update. I assume he had them all updated to the same version but you really can't assume anything. He didn't mention it

Haven’t been worried about battery life on my iPhone since 11PM. 11PM/12PM/13PM and soon 14PM are a workhorse. Come home at 5 pm with 50%+ still left on battery I’m good. Been experiencing this since 11PM. Go to bed at 9pm. Go to sleep at 10pm it is then my phone charges daily overnight via MagSafe. The end.

The sim tray is only removed on the US models, so they couldn’t really utilize that space across the board.
