Too late. The demand disappeared after Christmas, so it doesn’t matter they can now make enough iPhones, most people won’t bother buying it now and just wait until September for the next model, unless their phone breaks.

People just aren't going to see the need for a cellphone, especially those people who only call family on the holidays.

I think Shirasaki is referring to the part where a 256GB iPhone 14 Pro Max in Silver is Not available today at 10 nearest stores and so Apple is recommending a 256GB iPhone 14 Pro Max in Gold instead if Shirasaki wanted one now (today).
I’m an in-store pickup/store purchase guy, and would not trust delivery unless I have no other option.
There are two stores that are 100km and 200 km away from where I live, not feasible tbh.
As such, I don’t think iPhone 14 Pro stock situation improves much in Sydney region, at least in case I need to buy a new phone right now.

Well that's good if you want a 14 Pro or Pro Max. I'll keep using my 12 Pro though, it works just fine. And I had the battery replaced last week, so now it feels like a new phone. Until they switch to USB-C, I'll probably stick with my 12 Pro. There's not a compelling reason for me to upgrade right now.

Great news. Perhaps I will be able to get it now! Really love the current flat design. I hope they will not change it for iphone 15. Oh well, I will skip the next model anyway.

We'll see if that's the case in about four months, when Apple lets us know about the January - March quarter results. Until then, speculation.

Might as well wait, the iPhone 14 is now last year's model...

I went to an Apple Store the first week or two a couple times—once right after they opened—and there was only limited stock. Then, at&t screwed us out of our bill credits from our previous 12 series phones and trade-ins (they finally relented, though it left me firmly against signing up for a similar offer from them again. Deceitful, dark patterns at every turn). Recently, I gave up and finally pulled the trigger on a reputable reseller on Ebay on an unlocked 512GB 14 Plus, and I'm grateful everything worked out like it did. One of my hesitations with the Pro Maxes was that they kept getting heavier. The 14 Plus not only looks better than my 12 Pro Max side-by-side (perhaps OLEDs fade?), but feels like a generational leap forward (or backward, as it were) in-hand. Maybe the 15 Ultra will deliver on all metrics, but I'm more than happy to be trying out the 14 Plus for 10mos or so.

Meanwhile Sony still hasn’t figured out PS5 supply two years in
To be fair, the chip shortage wasn't their fault & scalpers taking advantage of the situation caused the issue in the first place.

Any stock retailers had was swallowed up by bot networks buying them. It took the likes of Amazon over 18 months to work out a "register your interest" type system.

Retailers need to do better.

The weight issue on the Pros is real, and not just the max. My wife was waiting for the backlog to run through to upgrade from her 11 Pro to the 14 Pro, and she used my 13 Pro for something and was like, wow, this is really heavy. I looked it up and told her the 14 Pro is even a drop heavier. She's now probably going to wait for the 15 Pro to see if they drop the weight any, unless her 11 Pro dies before then.
