I’ve just been messing on my iPhone 14 Pro and enabled on the camera app, AppleProRes 48MP, never used it.

So I now have an option I in the camera app for Raw toggle. I presume using Raw Will use the 48MP full resolution, and not is “only” 12MP?

Are the pics that much better (or worse?) using 48MP? Or only if it’s blown up large?

iPhone 14 Pro Max owner... I use the 48 MP option for RAW... I don't use/take JPEG/HEIC format...

You can go to Settings --> Camera --> Formats --> ProRAW Resolution

You can either go with 12 MP RAW or 48 MP RAW and switching to RAW uses more storage space...

I use 48 MP ProRAW quite regularly and I love it. Detail is much, much sharper than 12 MP and it feels almost lifelike when I view it on my computer monitor.

I use RAW 48MP all the time. the file sizes are massive in comparison to JPEG but I don't mind that for the benefits in detail captured. Just as an aside, I tried a Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra for 2 weeks recently and the camera on that phone, even the 200mega pixel images just didn't look as good as the iPhone.

Can you send a raw file through whatsapp and it converts it to jpg? Will it be visible?

I use it all the time when I need maximum detail. Yes, the photos are significantly better.

I've just tried it a few times for kicks and it is cool. I got the 1 TB model so I could play with 48mp without worrying about storage space.
