I have an Apple Watch Series 5 with an AOD. Sometimes I catch the complications and open an app, even when the screen is dimmed. Surely this is going to happen when you have your iPhone 14 Pro? Thoughts please. I'm not against the Pro as I would like one, it was just a thought that came to me the other day.

Won’t know until people get the product in their hands.

Personally I'll turn it off completely. I rather save battery life than see a dim screen, and the potential of burn-ins while being active in my pocket.

This is the one feature that I am really excited for and missed since switching from Android. AOD is one of the most useful features that a phone can have

Are there any videos / impressions of what happens when you get notifications now with the AOD on? The most annoying thing was when notifications would just constantly wake your screen, especially from chat apps.

I was also wondering that because your screen is always on, I wonder if that will effect the Apple Watch from receiving notifications?

Doubt it will make any difference. Your phone could be in another room or out of sight, whether the display's always on or not.

Yes but what I am saying is that atm, when your iPhone screen is on, you don't get notifications on your Watch because it thinks that you are looking at your iPhone. But with an AOD, I'm wondering if you'll be able to get notifications through your Watch still?

I would assume AOD behaviour will be the same as screen off behaviour now where it comes to Apple Watch. If it's not 'fully' on, you'll get the Watch notification.

Yeah I have found the answer. It's in the last paragraph in the section about the AOD in the following link:

of course...android had for so many year AOD and it turns off when is on vertical stand and when the display is facing down
and no burn in at that dim display

yes you will in my opinion. Because faceID is not recognising that you are reading the notification

Yeah thanks for all of the replies. @MayaUser I was going to ask about the vertical position because during the night I use the Dream Lab app and that dims the screen so it's not shining in your face at night.

Haha. At first I thought you meant useless features. I don’t want my phone always in front of me at eyes glance. Seems pathetic

I hope it stays on when charging on my night stand so I don’t have to tap it to check the time in the middle of the night.. I wish my watch did since I 3d printed a charging stand for it but I have to tap the watch to check the time..
