Yeah you should’ve. It’s a stunning looking combo. But so is the elderberry! I currently have the ink leather, but just ordered the elderberry as well. I love how both combinations look.
Well I decided to give the Ink another shot and went back to the Apple store today and got another one. Realize I never actually had the phone and case together the first time. It just looked blue to me. Now I have it on my phone and it looks purple. Go figure. It looks great. So now I have the Elderberry and the Ink. Both are definitely worthy cases for the deep purple phone.

That could be it, I upgraded from a 12 and the buttons were really clicky on it. I just got the Forest Green for my 14 Pro and the buttons are a little more firm.
Sorry for the late reply. I checked out the buttons on my fiancée's case and they are not as tactile or as clicky as the Apple leather cases from the 7 series to the 12 series. They feel just like the Apple leather case I have for the 13 Pro Max.

It appears to be midnight and not Ink. It matches my midnight watch band perfectly. It looks nothing like the box or what I was expecting. So before I head to an Apple Store, I wanted to see if others had received their case to see if it’s as dark as mine. The box has a purple hue and what I expected.
It is definitely a very dark blue. You need to catch it in sunlight.

I ordered both Ink and Midnight and was going to choose between the two, but both felt, like you said, less tactile and/or clicky. I figured it was something with this year's design and returned them both. But not sure what to do now, go naked or go Rhinoshield bumpers. Bumpers make the phone too wide for me, but they are protective.

In my experience this always depends on the actual case you get. I have had this happen for many years with apple cases, all while friends who had the same one didn't have any mushy-ness when pressing the buttons. Also my new Ink case has very clicky buttons, so chances are you it was just bad luck on both, production-wise. If you really like a specific color from the new range, just try a couple cases and you eventually will find one where the buttons do feel good.

Current X owner, and finally Apple showed me something that caught my attention so looking forward to receiving my Deep Purple Pro Max in a few weeks. My screen protector and Ink leather case (£10 cheaper at Curry's UK) arrived this morning though. While it's clear that the box itself doesn't represent the case colour very well at all, it also doesn't do it justice - it's a beautiful colour in the flesh. Photos and videos I've seen online managed my expectations very well indeed, and even the name alone should give you an idea. If you had a big container of blue ink that you could move around in different lighting, you'd get shades of deep navy blue, black and purple. It's exactly the same with this case. It is predominantly a deep, navy blue, but definitely has hints of purple. But, it's not purple, and while the case photo shows it to be, the name itself doesn't. Just depends what you want, and by all accounts, the Elderberry silicone case would be better if you wanted purple. I just don't get on with Silicone cases and the way they feel and age.

My X and previous phones were black with black leather cases so this combo will make a nice change for the next 5 years, lol.

Here’s my wife’s purple pro and ink case. They’re closer in real life than the picture, and she’s happy with how they go together. These are very hard to accurately photograph. Using a 13 Pro I get *completely* different colors depending if I set the focus on the phone or the box. One of those situations where seeing them in person, if possible, really helps.

Agreed...that photo there looks like a very vivid blue, which is nothing like the box photo or the case itself. I've had mine under various mixed lighting conditions, from direct sun, indoor incandescent lights, cool-white LED lights, and the case always looks dark, sometimes black, sometimes dark blue, sometimes deep purple if I dare say those words. It's definitely one of those cases that doesn't photograph well, and that's part of its appeal for me.

It's funny because when you get a black leather case, that too looks different in different lighting, but people are OK with that because in their minds they understand what it means to be black with its various shades. In this case (pun intended!) it's a little more nuanced, but honestly, any photos you have seen that make it look vivid blue are just a consequence of the lighting and camera used. In reality, it's very dark case and based on what I've seen, complements the Deep Purple phone very well indeed.

Just for some comparison, I took a pic of midnight blue, ink leather link, and ink case.

That's a reasonably accurate picture, but only shows one specific scenario. There the blue looks quite vivid, but in most lighting and at most angles, my case appears somewhere between the two. It's much darker than the photo there shows, but get the light right at a specific angle, yes, it can look like that.

Honestly, it's one of those where you have to see it for yourself to make your mind up. I took a punt and am extremely happy with my decision as I'm bored of black phones and cases. Mind you, my current phone in its black case doesn't always look black either, depending on lighting and angle it can look light grey. The issue here is that if you want purple, the ink case isn't going to deliver that for you. With the purple phone inside the ink case, that might bring out more of the subtle purple hue...time will tell.

This case is my favorite in the last few years of these cases. Fit is perfect, buttons are perfect and the color is just so unique.

Sitting here in the morning light, the case pretty much looks black. Every now and then you’ll catch a hint of blue/purple but it’s very close to the midnight blue of old. Yesterday I was out throwing bags and in the direct sunlight it was almost an electric blue/purple with an ever-so-slight patina visible where my fingers rest.

All that said, it’s the fit that keeps bringing me back to Apple leather year after year. I’ve said it before and will continue: iPhones feel better in a leather case than they do naked. The warm organic feel trumps cold smudgy steel that’s constantly slipping out of my pocket all day every day and the small amount of added thickness is an even smaller price to pay for the protection it provides.

I’m so happy I’ve saved the $$$$ that I usually spend on cases between the day I take off the Apple leather and the day I go back to it to wrap the year.

I’m currently setting up the old 12 Mini so I can start posting pictures again.

The more pics I’m seeing, the more I’m liking the Ink leather case. Appreciate everyone who’s been sharing pics in various lighting.
Check out LONLI Napa leather iPhone 14 case on Amazon. I wanted the Apple ink leather case but was unsure of the color. This case is an exact match and am blown away by the quality and packaging

+1 on this. I have both the midnight and ink for my silver and I like how the ink gives variation of looks depending on the light. I like the midnight too but prefer the rich saturated color of ink- I like the contrast of a light phone with the dark case and ink is dark enough to do just this. Just looks stunning imo 😍

I was so close to buying the silver but I just couldn’t resist the space black. We’re almost back to jet and that would be my ideal iPhone. The ink with that black housing looks fiiiiine.

I can’t get multi quote off lol but yeah I love the space black too!

I can’t decide if I like the midnight or the ink better on silver! Silver looks good with everything

Midnight or ink?

Midnight or in
Ink as new looks better than midnight, but after using them few moths there will be visible black on sides and for that reason midnight is better for long run.
My husband hasn’t had any of the darkening on the sides and he’s had his for two months. I like both cases equally ☺️ I’ve been using the ink for a little over a week now and it looks great. May use midnight again here shortly but I love them both
