Anyone else having issues with charging the 14promax - I plug the cable in and it starts to charge, but then shortly after it stops, unplug replug nothing, turn cable and it starts again. This isn't just one one cable either, it's happening on multiple cables. Just wanted to know if it was a known issue. It's driving me mad.
Cheers

I’ve been having this issue for quite some time, when I got my new phone I have called Apple support multiple times, my battery icon would flicker like I’d disconnected the phone when it was still plugged in on charge, I’ve boughten new cables, and tried different ones and still the same issue, they told me to get an express replacement which I did, and still I’m having the same issue

Have you tried a different charger?

I had this issue…and I got a new phone ( I purchased one more ) and it has no issue. I tried everything but it happened I guess it’s a batch of phones with a hardware defect.

So the second phone I got which is the (replacement phone) has the issue too.
I am beyond frustrated and not sure what to do next, I reached out to Apple Care and they told me the engineers would look into it, but that was weeks ago and still no response

Return it for #3.
I’ve had to return an item twice because it was defective (not iPhone) and got lucky with the 3rd one. Worked perfectly

Sorry just out of curiosity did you take yours to an Apple Store?? I’m curious to see what they told you, I took mine to an Apple certified shop because we do not have an official Apple Store here and all the guy said was “he’s never seen anything like this” 😑

Good point, and if there was justification for Apple to replace the first one for the same reason, there's absolutely justification to replace the second one.
They're the manufacturer, and they're the ones who set the precedent for replacement.

Are you using an Apple charger and cable?
Yeah I bought all brand new Apple cords, and I’ve used the USBC cord & adapter, even tried my MacBook adapter .. even tried a Anker cord & adapter and still it happens

Guys try and wiggle the connector and see if it will stop and start. That is what was also happening to mine.

I’ve done that many times, it will only stop if I hold the connector a certain way, but still we shouldn’t have too ?

Yes I know about this as it happened to me. I’m on a new phone and it’s not happed yet. Btw did it start after using the new 35W dual charger by any chance?

I haven’t had this issue. The only issue I’ve had was with when I dropped my iPhone in a puddle. I forgot about it and later tried to plug it in but it said there was water in the connector. it was fine after letting it dry out for a few hours.

To troubleshoot make sure you use not only a separate cord, but a separate charging brick and outlet at home. Make sure you’re plugging it all the way in. Check for debris in the lightning port.

It’s possible that there was a defect in the lightning port. I’d say getting a second phone that’s also defective would be much less likely. If you’re having more failures than that, I would look into what you’re doing that might be an issue. I don’t think it’s likely to damage the lightning port by physical force but it’s possible. When you’re carrying the phone, is there debris in your pocket?

have you tired different locations in your house plug it in? I had this problem with other apple items.

I have a 13 mini and I could not replicate the issue with that and it does not happen with the new 14 pro max

Yes, all the outlets and still the same outcome, also happens in the car so bad that I can’t use apple car play

It was a brand new phone, no water damage or debris, straight out of the box, even with the replacement they sent me

I'd take it to the genius bar. Looks like a candidate for replacement.
Getting an express replacement, now the 2nd replacement and my third iPhone 14 pro, hoping this is it .. if not I’m at a real loss for words

I have had lightening port issues on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. I have tried using different cables and even taken off the case to see if that was causing the issue when charging, but no luck. Finally gave up and made a genius appointment for tmw.
