I have the iPhone 14 Pro Max 1tb. I often have to show my handwritten notes when on Facetime calls, but the phone will not focus unless approximately 8 inches away and then I have to zoom in at 2x to see anything. I have the macro mode turned on in the settings. My old iPhone 8 could focus on the same text in about 3-4 inches in comparison. Yesterday I tried scanning in a small QR code, but it wouldn't focus in on it unless you held it too far away for the code to even be read. Any help?

Recommend changing macro mode from auto to manual. iPhone 8 didn’t have macro so your new phone is probably just having focusing issues. It was the same for the 13 Pro series so Apple gave users the option to do it manual in order to prevent these issues.

Thanks for the response. For photos and videos, macro is fine. But for Facetime, it won't focus unless you go at least 8 inches away.
