iPhone 14 Pro Max availability for an Apple store walk-in purchase is pretty much non-existent here in Plymouth, UK. I know I can order one (lead time of about 3 weeks) but I'm too impatient. I like to walk in, tell the person I'd like to buy an iPhone please, pay up and walk out.

I understand there is supplier issues etc, but this is the worse it's been with any new iPhone purchase for me. I check stock availability 3 or 4 times a day - nil, nada, nein, niet, non!

Ah well, maybe it's time to order for a delivery. Who knows how much longer I will wait else!

Agree it's way worse this year. Just now saw a Max but it's TB. It's almost always either TB or Gold/Silver. This TB is actually Black, but I never see Purple, not even for the 30s they usually last

Here on the US West Coast it seems we've had black and purple, not much gold and silver (which is ironic in its own historical way.)

Also, as far as ordering, odd thing here. I finally broke down and ordered a PM for delivery. Did it two days ago. Said it would arrive Nov 10-17. Now if I get on the apple site and try to order, it say Nov 3-10. So I checked my order to see if that delivery estimate had improved. Nope, still 1017. Very strange it seems.

Normally, demand is spread across four new iPhones. This year, it seems everyone is going for the Pro Max.

This is sort of like the iPhone 4 days. You had to go on safari to find it in stores and just take what you get.

My sister had to wait three hours in a line to pick her phone up. Them’s were the days back then…

During the iPhone 4 days, someone in Hong Kong could make 100%. If you had a boxed iPhone 4 around launch period, you could sell it to a scalper and double your money.

Not quite similar with 14 Pro Max, but during the first two weeks, scalpers were paying $250 for any boxed unit, even 128GB models.

Try John Lewis. Website is always out of stock but use the store checker, they always have stores with stock. I just picked up a 256 pm in store the other day.

Which store checker is that? I’ve been checking online websites daily for Pro Max Purple 256GB with no success. Just ordered from Apple for delivery first week November but will cancel if one turns up for collection earlier.

You could use this site and set the country to be UK? I know this works in the U.S. It's pretty accurate and used this website in the past and was able to snag what I wanted. Depending on location, they may just receive 1 unit or in few quantities so have to make a fast decision.

US seems to be getting better, at least Lehigh Valley PA. There has at been least one PM showing all day. Right now there are two. I actually saw all three slots showing Maxes for a bit before.

Interestingly Apple Michigan Ave in Chicagoland yesterday literally had all of the 14 Pro max except the 512 GB Silver and by end of the day it's all gone.

It's proving an impossible task unless you order!

OK, I'm going to see if any stock arrives today, and if not, I'm going to order one. However, I have a guaranteed trade-in price for my current iPhone.

Ordering on-line means I have to send my phone away to trade it in. I've heard some horror stories about stupid quotes that are nothing like Apple's original, fictitious scratches and scuffs etc etc - all to lower the offered trade-in price originally quoted on the Apple site! This is why I like walk-in purchases. I've never had an issue with trade-in using this method.

Can someone put my mind at ease re trading in via sending your old phone away!

Chicago area stores got stocked yesterday afternoon. Pretty much all configurations.

in a way, the Pro Max is the most sensible option. (assuming one can stand the size and weight) $200 price difference is not that much.(but if $200 is a huge dealbreaker, then one should not even be buying iPhones to begin with?)

Go to JL website and find the relevant phone, and click on the check in store button.

Do you know how often JL restock the phones? I am targeting a silver 14PM 256, is it worth checking the stores nearby over the next days? Not sure if you or anyone knows it.
