I don’t get the new iPhone line up. I never met an apple iPhone pro owner that was upset that the lower phones got the same CPU. Slight GPU upgrade was enough for me to be satisfied with the additional bells and whistles. It’s really taken a turn that I hope is corrected back to normal next year.

All businesses take risks from time to time and test what they can get consumers to buy.

But it may not be as simple as that -XR was not received incredibly well by press and consumers when they first arrived due to lack of high end specs and comparatively low value to the flagship models.

But maybe Apple is aiming for iPhones 14 and 14 Plus to be sleeper hits that fail initially but still get Apple high profits down the line even when prices drop due to low manufacturing costs?

I doubt Apple thought they would be popular on launch, not at those prices.

Can they finally get rid of this g*ddamned popup now?

I'm tired of being harassed because I turned the Wi-Fi completely off.

Usually appears in Waze when I am driving in traffic, of course, forcing me to dismiss it just to get back to the map.

Or how about Siri refusing to work unless you have “Precise Location” on, yet Apple yells “Privacy Privacy!” Siri does NOT require my “Precise” location to tell me where X is!

First of all man never went to the moon so there are no satellites in orbit. All gps satellite 📡 are located on land & have to grounded just like all electricity ⚡️ to work
As an Electrical Engineer, that is completely false. "Ground" does not always mean "earth ground". The word ground is used because it is a reference, just the same as altitude is referenced (0 feet) from sea level. The negative terminal of a battery can be considered "ground" because it is the reference (0 Volts) that all other measurements are taken from.

Aside from that, I have received signals from satellites using antennas that are directional, meaning they have to point at the satellite to function properly. And no, I did not have to aim it along the ground. I aimed it into the air and had to move it as the satellite orbited the earth.

The gray lines in the photos are when I didn't have the antenna pointing exactly at the satellite in the 10 minutes it took to download these images. The images are from a weather satellite. And no, it was not a plane, unless it was flying at ~7000mph at an altitude of ~12 Million feet. I will not confirm nor deny that we ever went to the moon, however, I can definitively say that satellites are real. Why else would people pay to send roughly 100 rockets into space each year carrying "Satellites" unless they were actually real?

"Pre-operational" means unavailable?
According to https://www.gps.gov/systems/gps/modernization/civilsignals/

"In April 2014, the Air Force began broadcasting civil navigation (CNAV) messages on the L5 signal. However, L5 remains pre-operational and should be employed at the user's own risk until it is declared operational."

Many satellites are required for greater accuracy. It works, but there just aren't enough satellites yet for it to be of great use and the phone may reject location data from the L5 sats unless it gives valid results. That could change before the iPhone 14 lifespan ends, but no guarantees. It's still good that Apple is experimenting with the new technology because it shows foresight.
