I don't mind the pill shaped hole but this would be an awful move which is why I'd bet it's never going to happen

Pill...hole...ellipse...triangle...Apple could just continue to shrink the notch until it is gone.
It looks like an explanation point when held sideways. I'm sure that'll show up in the marketing somewhere since it's not like this phone will actually have anything interesting about it.
The iPod only lasted 5 years as a flagship Apple product. The iPhone has been it for 15 years - far, far too long. The first 5 years of updates were great. The next 2 or 3 were okay. And it's been pretty weak for the 7 years since.
The iPhone 6+ was the last interesting iPhone. Since then we got Force Touch, which Apple subsequently removed, and then Face ID, which people are saying will also get removed... and...
Uh... how about those load speeds? Hurray for 10% quicker loading of knock off games where devs brag about how they take advantage of people not copyrighting FOSS? (Seriously Apple, fix the stupid rules so that we see some top notch FOSS on iOS, same as on Mac and Windows.)

Much better than the notch. I will buy one. Black background of the notch is a terrible waste of real estate
I disagree. Just keep the damn notch— at least it’s symmetrical.

It's getting dumber by the day. Then just leave the notch. Makes the iPhone instantly recognisable and gives EXACTLY the same usable real estate as this crap.
I really don’t know what I would prefer, a narrower notch or this pill shaped hole. What I do know, is that I need an authentication system compatible with face masks. COVID 19 is most certainly on its way to be a stationary disease, and as such, we will need masks every now and then.

I honestly forget that my phone has a notch.
Camera and multiple sensors. It wouldn't have mattered and the notch is mostly irrelevent.
