Is there any tangible benefit to setting up as new vs transferring from existing iPhone? Has anyone experienced any issues with transfers recently?

If you didn't encounter any problems with your previous device, there is no need to go do a set up as new.

Seems like more gets carried over. Passwords, etc.

Restoring from iCloud gets your phone working faster, but then downloads a lot in the background afterwards.

Direct transfer keeps your phone unusable longer, but transfers nearly everything and is completely ready to go when it’s done.
