iPhone 16 Pro Max iPhone 14 Pro to 15 Pro update was a much smaller upgrade than the iPhone 15 Pro to 16Pro one

While this year the Regular 16 Pro has the new zoom lens while last year only the 15 Pro Max had it.
And the performance upgrade was also smaller from 14 to 15 pros compared to 15 to 16 pros.

Do you think the presentation is what caused all this initial disappointment?

Getting rid of lightning and making it lighter / titanium was way bigger than whatever 16 pro brings (can’t even recall offhand that’s how bad it is)

I was just telling people that I feel that we all overreacted on Monday. And that the upgrade was actually bigger than last year.

It has a new battery technology and faster USB C speeds on the Regular Pro
Last year regular pro had USB 2.0 Speeds on the USB C port and it didn’t get the 5X zoom lens while only the Pro Max got it.
The display also got bigger too.
The 14 and 15 Pros had the same display size.

Last year’s Pro phones both had USB 3.0 speeds at 10 Gbps. It was a feature Apple highlighted with the A17 Pro chip. The Pro Max also had this.

However, you are correct that the Pro Max last year had the 5x zoom whilst the Pro had 3x zoom.
