400 FEET! And he survived!?!?!? To me that’s much more amazing then the iPhone saving him.

It’s not straight down, depending on where this was, it’s more of a steep drop off, plus lots of shrubs and small trees to soften the blows. No car could fall 400 feet straight down and anyone survive.

I’ve driven this road many times at night, it can be very dangerous as can pretty much any mountain road.

It's only a matter of time before some guy drives to a remote canyon intending to end it all, knowing that nobody will find his body for weeks. He drives off the road over the cliff edge, but then his iPhone calls the rescue services and they retrieve him. Can he then sue Apple for infringing his right to self-determination (or self-termination, as the case may be)?

I know this is just a joke. But I've read that it is fairly common for folks who decide to end it all by jumping to be filled with a powerful sense of regret immediately after they jump and start to fall. This is reported, obviously, only from folks who survive these attempts. So they probably won't sue. Though if they did and then won, the money from the suit might change their life. Lots of people kill themselves for financial reasons that a successful lawsuit against Apple would entirely fix.
