Yes, but I’m beginning to doubt whether the zoom lens on the Pro is worth the extra they charge for it. A 14 Pro is 1326 euros, compared to a plain 14 at 1016 euros, which I think is still a lot.
I have wondered this as well, ever since I bought a Pro for this lens but rarely used it in practice. With my next phone purchase, I'm likely to step down from Pro to the regular model. If anything, I have recently preferred the look of the non-pro models.

isn’t every year an S year? It certainly seems that way to me.
Not that I worry about the colors on the promax too much because I always a case on it but how many different shades of gray do we need?
And yes, I will watch the Keynote like I do every year, will sigh when I realize that not much of an upgrade, but then, on Friday, I will be racing to pre-order just like I do every year, because I’m an apple sheep!
Sheer me now!

That’s been my experience too. The zoom lens is good for portrait foto’s, and the bokeh is nice on it, but to be honest I don’t use it often. And it’s a 33% price hike.

Then I compare it to the Fairphone 4, which admittedly is an Android phone but which I can repair and do battery swaps myself, and which costs a mere 499 euros, half of the standard iPhone. Specs are nearly identical although it doesn’t use the premium materials. It’s true you don’t get a new OS every year with that but the OS is pretty stable these days, and that’s much more the kind of price I’d like to pay for a new phone.

The fact that anything is being sold with usb 2.0 speeds in the year 2023 is kind of disgusting
While I agree that usb 2.0 is disappointing, I’m trying to think of the last time I plugged my phone into a computer other than to use it to charge my phone…..

I doubt this will happen on the 15, but in the future I could see them increasing the refresh rate on the standard models without calling it ProMotion.

Yes they really need to upgrade the screens on the regular models to some kind of faster refresh rate, at least 90 hz for crying out loud. The most bargain basement Android phones have 90 hz screens at a bare minimum, in fact its hard to actually find any with 60 hz screens anymore.

If there is a 6X optical zoom I will buy it. I am already practicing bird photos & they are blurry but with 6x they will only be out of focus 🍸😹 unless they’re not🍸🐈
With that will Apple need to up their game in image stabilization?

Yep, agreed. If a 499 euros phone meets your needs, then by all means do that. I have a ton of Apple gear and like it, but the price premium only makes sense if it gets you something that is really better for you.

I’ve been looking at what I use my phone for, and it’s mostly WhatsApp, Phone Calls, Gmail, a bit of YouTube, banking and shopping. All of that is largely cross platform. But my iPhone 13 Pro will last a good few years yet, before I have to make a choice.

So in summary, a big load of nothing in the iPhone 15.
I skipped the 14 and am still rocking my iPhone 13 Pro Max.

I refused to upgrade to 14 for the 'Island Display' feature (not worth $1,600) & plan to hang on to my iPhone 13 Pro Max for another year if this is all that Apple has to innovate in the 15.

I don't want to lose my physical SIM card tray.
