Geez troll much?

I've got a 14 Pro Max (Soon to be a 15 Pro Max) and a Samsung Galaxy Fold 5. The Fold 5 lags regularly. Both devices have a similar amount of apps on and is definitely not as buttery smooth as the iPhone.

I get it’s more smooth than Android used to be but if you’ve not experienced an iPhone, it’s still way ahead in terms of responsiveness.
Geez brown nose much? I have a 14 Pro and its worse that the 13 Pro for battery life. Apple need to make money and so the phone gets cheaper batteries and other internals I assume, the 13-14 was when the battery boards were changed just google iPhone 14 battery issues! Android has its bumps but the iPhone 14 and iOS 16 have not been a smooth ride either, its still not and that's a year later. I even did a clean install when new too. Apple plays by the distortion of truth my association (How to get ahead in advertising) I would take less PR and more innovation any day.

Cope.

Why is your response about the smoothness of the UI of iPhone vs Android come with a response about battery life?

I've had all the iPhones every year. I don't deny that the 14 Pro Max seems to last a little less time than the 13 Pro Max but I suspect if I went and turned the AOD off that it might even out. Regardless it still gives stellar battery life.

Yes also agree that iOS 16 was one of the worst iOS releases for overall polish when it came out. They fixed it up but it wasn't great at launch. I've been running iOS 17 Beta for a bit and I feel like that won't repeat this year.

None of this changes the fact that iOS is smoother than Android which was the original item I was pushing back on you against. No brown nosing, I've got both after all and enjoy plenty about Android. I'm just not in the business of lying to myself about the pros and cons, smoothness being something Apple has always won hands down and still continues to do so.

i’m worried about the battery capacity, i wonder if will decrease again (it decreased on 14 pro max)

They claim it's the same. Rumours suggested a much larger battery and the phone is thicker which feels like a larger physical battery could have caused that. However I suspect it's actually closer to the same capacity as the iPhone 14 Pro's but the change to the chemistry has reduced the energy density so it has to be physically larger.

I'm also interested if this does anything to battery care and degradation. For instance if you get a Tesla Long Range those have advice to try not to fully charge to 100% often as it degrades the batteries. Same as we've had on phones / laptops and so on. However the cheaper model with the less energy dense LFP battery can actually be charged to 100% and left there without impacting the battery health. It would be really nice if you could charge iPhone to 100% and leave it there without reducing battery health. No need then for optimised charging anymore.

Well hopefully this satisfies some people on this forum, as I heard a lot of chatter about the 6gb/8gb thing this time.

I use my phone as a business phone, so have never ran into a ram limitation on it.

Don’t think so. All the of the mentioned models are tiny upgrades over the other.
I think this is why they were comparing them to iPhone 12 in places. Probably at this point the average upgrade cycle is 3 years. I upgrade every year and no doubt many others in this forum might but we ain't representative of the general population.

How does this even make sense. "I would take less responsiveness and more innovation any day." Why? Your argument here is you would rather have a worse experience so you can get better bullet points on a box? I'm sorry, but my phone is a tool, not a toy. I need it to do its work as quickly and efficiently as possible, not just sell me higher numbers listed on the outside of the box and has as you say "less responsiveness".

If only Apple could rediscover that ancient technology... was called a "swap file" by the ancient ones. And quit randomly killing apps in the background... that other ancient invention, they called it "mult-i-tasking."

Gosh we would hardly care about RAM at all! If only...
Don’t quite think that is the actually the case.

I think the reason we never hear any info about RAM quantity on iPhones is because it’s a marketing decision, not an engineering issue.

Makes the marketing department look like shmucks.

Ive always found it good to watch for the RAM bumps when considering when to buy... typically when the amount of RAM is bumped up significantly... those first devices with it appear to last way longer in terms of support for software upgrades compared to those with the same amount released a few years later.

That was my single concern when buying my iPhone Mini 13.... but I love the form factor so I just went for it... still hoping to have a good run before I next upgrade.

I like to think I use my phone plenty and I've never thought "This needs more RAM". I think some people just like seeing bigger numbers even if there is no need for it for most people.
I think for most people their usage is such that a few reloads of apps etc doesn't really make a difference in usage. I noticed my Mini 13 reloading apps already, but it doesn't really bother me so much. Its also kind of odd too.. as my iPad Air 4 and iPad mini 6 have the same amount of RAM but don't reload apps as much... I don't know...

But like my comment above... its always good to make the purchase when the RAM is bumped up... and then just forget about it and not worry :)

Woohoo apps open 0.000000037176 seconds faster! Give me a reason to use that RAM like a Dex mode or something.
