So earlier today I went into my Face ID settings and enabled wallet to work without requiring iPhone unlock, then I started noticing that my iPhone 15 Pro kept asking for my password every time I wanted to unlock my phone. I’m like, why isn’t Face ID working? So I went back into settings and Face ID was turned off (no errors, just off). So I enabled it again and it went to the setup screen like it was my first time setting up Face ID. What the hell? Never had this happen before.

Is this something that can happen sometimes? Is there something I did that made me have to re-setup Face ID?

First time I have heard of this.... are you absolutely sure you didn't by accident delete your FaceID profile?
Isn’t there some “are you sure” menus to go through? Unless I blacked out, I didn’t reset my Face ID.

I guess it’s possible that I went to put my iPhone in my pocket and accidentally tapped the reset Face ID button. I was doing this while getting coffee this morning and I probably put my phone away in a hurry as they were handing me my coffee. I’ll keep an eye on it.

This would randomly happen to me with TouchID (happened like once with my iPhone SE over 2 years). The secure enclave hiccuped and dumped my data. I had to set it up again.

It's very very rare but not unheard of.
