After a few weeks of owning this phone, for normal tasks, my 15 Pro Max is running cooler than any iPhone I’ve ever used. It’s cool to the touch whenever I pick it up. My previous phones would all feel cool, but not cool to the touch. This is for people that don’t own one that have heard how hot these phones run due to a software bug. They shouldn’t get a reputation for running warmer in normal situations, when I’ve noticed the exact opposite from my usage.

My 15 pro max temperature run has been the same as my previous iPhones. I have not noticed any differences 😊

i felt it get warm only when taking it off charge... one time. it really was just warm and not hot. compared to my 12 pro max it was much cooler. that got uncomfortably hot.

99.9% of the time my 15 pro max has, since launch day, been cool to the touch. i keep checking to see if i can feel anything but nope. cool as a cucumber.

My 15PM was running cool since I got it launch day. Last two days it began running exceptionally warm during phone calls specifically. Earlier today a 12 min call resulted in 9% battery being zapped. Phone was hot to the touch. Installed the 17.0.3 and it has since eliminated the issue. Willing to bet that IOS bug is specifically with the phone call app. It’s just strange that it didn’t happen at all until yesterday. I tested it by hanging up installing the update then calling back to finish up the convo. 10 min resulted in 1% battery drop, a much notable improvement.

When I was setting up my 15PM and transferring data from iCloud it got acceptably warm. Otherwise, operating temps even in games and productivity apps have been absolutely fine (much to my surprise after the initial 'overheating' claims), even downright cool as mentioned.

Mine only heats up with heavy photo/video taking, no different than my 14PM. Completely cool otherwise. Not a single complaint from me about my 15PM!

Agreed. Same workflow, my 15 PM runs generally cooler than the 14 P did.

There's clearly something wrong with your 15 Pro Max then. You should have sent it back while you could. Next thing you know, battery health will be stuck at 100% for a year or longer, and images won’t retent anymore.

Plus of course all the scratches on the terribly susceptible Titanium alloy exoskeleton...

It does get hotter than previous phones while using the camera tho. I've noticed quite a difference between this and my 14 PM with the camera app.

The only warmth I’ve had so far is charging at max speed or playing hello kitty island adventure. Not kidding lol it’s pretty fun. Doesn’t look graphically demanding at all tho and eats battery. When I don’t play it, battery percentage seems to be the same at the end of the day as my four year old 11 was with over 900 cycles. Not complaining but definitely not impressed either

My 15 Pro is defective in the same way! I haven't even updated iOS and it still refuses to heat up. Even charging it barely does anything. Obviously, nothing has ever been overblown on MR forums, so the problem must be with my phone not doing what they promised.

After spending billions of years hurtling through space, I’d expect it to take awhile for it to warm up.
