Just wanted to see others opinion who went from an iPhone 15 Pro Max to an iPhone 16 Pro. Screen is slightly larger and battery seems to be on par with the 15 Pro Max which is tempting.

I made the jump you are inquiring about and ended up sending my iPhone 16 pro back. I quickly realized that the camera button was not enough to win me over. When I put the phone in my Bulletpoint Truck mount, it would think that I was trying to use the camera button. I was looking forward to a smaller phone with increased battery, but it just wasn’t for me this time.

I made the same jump, but straight off the bat I don't think that the battery is as good as the 15 Pro Max, even on a phone that is brand new. It could well be a placebo effect as the phone is smaller so the brain thinks that the battery is smaller. That being said, it does seem noticeably worse in battery life, idle drain isn't great either.

On the positive side, I really like the size of the 16 Pro, a nice middle ground between the 15 Pro that was, and the 16 Pro Max. In hindsight, I didn't really need to upgrade from my 15PM as there was absolutely nothing wrong with it, however the 16 Pro is slightly less per month on Finance, and I can afford to change it so why not.

I went down the same route this year, having had pro max's every year previously, though I did try downsizing back on the 13 pro and ended up swapping back to a max a few days later, the battery drained far too quickly and I hated the screen size.
So this year I was very sceptical about down sizing again, but its been nearly a week now and I'm more than happy with the size, that small increase though minor and maybe the lack of the notch has helped.
The battery isnt quite as good as the Pro Max but so far it isn't far off in my usage case and I will easily get more than a day out of it.
It comes off charge at 630am and by the end of my working day at 5pm on the 15PM I would have gone home with about 80-85% battery, with the 16P I have around 70-80%. I take a few phone calls, send a few messages, play a game for 30mins some days, and maybe watch a couple of youtube videos.
I've noticed that I have an update finishing in the background again this morning, so theres a chance it could improve more when that finishes, plus dev's will surely update apps to optimise which will also help.
Time will tell, but so far i'm more than happy with it and glad I made the switch this year.

Isn’t it a little too early to be judging battery? On battery settings I have a message re ongoing device setup and the effect on battery.
I‘ve provisionally made this move. The idea is my wife will get my 15 Pro Max as an upgrade from her 13 Pro. She has a bag with her all the time when out so easier to deal with the Max size. I don’t find it an issue in winter when I’m wearing winter coats, more of a pain in summer shorts though!
Also, her phone is the one device she uses whereas I have a iPad and MacBook, so kind of makes sense that she has the bigger screen.
I say “provisional“ as I’m just waiting to judge the battery differential. The 15PM is still at 100% battery health.

I've gone from a 12 mini to a 16 pro and the battery life has blown me away! I have easily been getting 2 days out of this thing on a single charge. I guess it's all down to perspective! :D

I'm not upgrading, but just chiming in to say that I don't think I could ever go down in screen size... After getting used to the Max size for the last few years, it would be tough to go down, even a few inches.

I’ve downsized from Max to the regular Pro and have mixed feelings. It’s too soon to judge battery life, but I’m definitely making adjustments on zoom levels and text size. I kept the Display Zoom of the Max set to large (for multifocal contacts) and it was easier to read than the regular Pro with the text size slightly increased. (Still experimenting.)
