They've both got fugly camera bulges. They're both uncomfortable to hold without a case. They're both missing important features like an easily swappable battery and headphone jack.

Looks like Google copied Apple on how to build a phone wrong.
Since I got tinnitus in my left ear I no longer want or need headphone jack🤣😃 I am now afraid of headphones:D

Regular iPhone 15/Pro should be nice to hold in hand thanks to square borders, dunno about Pixels tho. I loved these borders ever since my iPhone 5 and glad those made a comeback in iPhone 12.

I would still use a case tho, after all those phones are pretty expensive to fix.

UPD: oh btw, I think we will get replaceable batteries in 2026-2027. It would be pretty much a rEvolution in smartphone world, can’t wait

I usually switch to an Android phone around this time every year so I can sell my iPhone for top dollar before the new one comes out. This year I got a Pixel 9 Pro XL because of an awesome Best Buy trade in offer. Honestly, after using this phone for the last week, I am kind of considering not getting an iPhone 16. It is the first time in a while I have actually enjoyed using an Android phone and not really missing anything.

I am a big fan of Google phones and stock android (I have had two of them in the past), but I have to say I think the look/design of the new Pixel phones is terrible. Going to flat sides is a downgrade compared to the rounded sides they always used to have (both in useability and looks), and that camera bar or whatever its called on the back is really ugly.

this is googles 2024 models, lets see apple's 2024 models in a couple of weeks against this pixel range

Looks like a good phone with some nice improvements to the modem, fingerprint sensor, and screen over the Pixel 8 models. Can’t wait to see what Google does with the Pixel 10 and their first custom Google designed chip made at TSMC.

Amazing that the Pixel now has 16gb of ram, and the yet to be released iPhone 16 pro and pro max is sticking with 8gb. 8 isn’t enough to keep my 15pm from constantly reloading apps, especially if I do something extreme, like take a quick pic.
Exactly. The biggest issue I have with my 15pm (Apple). Hate the apps always reloading.

I like stock Android but I have a hard time with apps made for Android. The quality between iOS and that is crazy.

Longer life batteries make swappable batteries unnecessary for the normal user. Headphone jacks are useless now that Bluetooth pods give superior sound to 20th-century wired headphone technology.

It has been getting better over the years.

I know a lot of people complain about things like camera quality in social media apps, but I couldn't care less about social media.

The only app I really miss is Flighty since I travel a lot, but I guess TripIt Pro works okay and I usually have my work iPhone too.

Pixel is a good phone. Like the new pink colour. But I prefer to use iPhone

I actually don’t think but I know that it has better reception, better WiFi and cellular data speeds, an amazing display, and Gemini live is a game changer.
Sorry, I didn't intend to sound rude. My English isn't perfect. I was asking sincerely because I've been considering switching to a Pixel for a while now, but the price of this year's models only adds more confusion. I mean, its a great phone, but with the price almost the same as an iPhone, I'm not sure I am ready to give up Apple's ecosystem with all its benefits.

Preference. Don't be a fanboy buddy
I am not, but my English is not so good - didn't want to sound rude, and I just really wanted to ask why he chose Pixel over iPhone, as I am considering switching to Pixel too. Just gathering more opinions.

Not gonna lie, I like the look of the P9 Pro camera setup. Plus when its laying on a desk, it wont have the wobble.
Until you notice the radii and shape of the camera bar are horribly mismatched against the roundrect phone body. If it bothers a design nitwit like me, Apple must consider that an inhuman atrocity

Unfortunately I prefer the Apple infrastructure over anything Google would have to make I'm too worried about all of their algorithms bombarding me with craziness as etc. I no longer use Google search I'm trying to get out of everything related to the company phone is a no go
What's nice about android hardware is the ability to flash other software like GrapheneOS. I've thought about getting a Pixel to mess with GrapheneOS but I realistically don't need two phones, past hobby use.

No mention of the Pixel phones (pro) having 16Gb of memory vs 8 on the iPhone 15Pro (and rumoured 16 Pro).

This matters. No matter what Apple says about pixie dust memory management, more is better , especially for AI local models … and apparently browser tabs (looking at you Safari & your need to reload so often). For the price Apple are charging , you want the best specs , not what Android had 3 years ago.

What do you normally do with the Android phone when you do decide to get the new iPhone? Sell it at a loss?

Having owned one of each version of Pixel, the P8P I currently have has been the second most frustrating Pixel device due to the hopeless fingerprint sensor.

I am used to the training of them and reckon it has an 80% failure rate when I try to unlock, leading to me having to enter the passcode. I truly regret swapping out the P7P for it and rarely reach for it which is crazy, given the price. I want to hear that this has been resolved in the P9P.

Just to add, the Pixel 4 was the worst of all of them, due to the comical battery life.
that's no longer a problem as the 9 series has ultrasonic finger print scanner.

Coworker arrived, today, with a new 9XL . . . really slick device.

We didn't have a lot of time to banter about it.

I'll be querying him on his thoughts/opinions over the next few weeks.

It looked far better, in-person, than I had imagined :)

Not a fan of protuberances, but I get the need.
