This seems to be a prefect example of crowd sourcing peoples feelings and pretending its objectively tested data.

Pull back the layers of this onion and you will find a bunch of people who are intentionally trying to bring Apples share price down so they can get in at a better price or push through a put play that's about to expire out of the money.

Again, I WILL BUY THIS ***** DIP.😘

I’ve had issues with my iPhone 15 pro not charging to 100% the last three nights. I received it on launch day. I’m charging with Apple’s MagSafe charger. Three nights ago I woke up to a hot phone at 13% with the “charging on hold” error message. Last two nights it was at 98-99%, and I still saw the warning in the battery menu. What’s strange is that the first 3 nights it was fine. I’m assuming it’s a standby (I use standby at night) or an unoptimized app running in the background issue, but I haven’t figured out the root cause. Thinking about just charging by usb-c at night until this is figured out. Really don’t want to degrade my battery prematurely.

I don't buy into "overheating" hysteria. 99% of the time people conflate "getting warm" to "overheating" because they don't understand that chips get warm when doing things and what sounds hot to a human isn't hot to a computer chip.

If it's truly overheating, the screen will dim, the device will stutter, and eventually shut off. That's overheating.
Yep. Oftentimes, especially around here, a fan kicking on in a MacBook is considered "overheating" rather than just a normal function of the laptop to keep itself to operating temperature. I don't understand why this concept is a struggle for people.

Have had no issues with my ProMax but it's apparent some people are experiencing abnormal/excessive overheating. Hope this can be sorted out without gimping the performance of the SOC
I'm curious if this issue is sporadic. I haven't noticed any abnormal overheating with my 15P. Nothing that my 14P didn't experience. If they do release a patch that "resolves" this issue, I'll be sure to run some benchmarks before applying the patch to see how bad they neuter the phones performance.

If Apple lowers the performance of the A17 Pro chip, I bet they will not lower the price, nor will they offer some kind of compensation for those who have already bought it, if I would have known I would have kept my 14 Pro Max because if they lower the performance of the A17 Pro chip you're literally holding an iPhone 14 Pro Max in your hands at a more expensive price.

Mine has been perfect, so I'm not worried about it. Maybe instead of a free bumper for "You're holding it wrong", we'll get a free water cooler for our iPhones.
or a glove or mittion with an Apple logo on it.

Step 1, pull the pin.
Step 2, count to three.
Step 3, throw phone at enemy and duck.

(I am not sure why you would want to throw an iPhone at a duck.)
And the Lord spake, saying, ''First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.'

Didn't Apple learn this lesson like 20 years ago with the Titanium Power Book G4? Didn't that have huge problems with heat transmission through the titanium case?

As an anecdotal aside, my 15 Pro doesn't seem any hotter or cooler to me than my 14 Pro Max was.

Anecdotal complaints and guesses as to what might be the problem is what passes for journalism these days. Sad. Well here’s another anecdote: I own a 15 Pro and have had zero issues, no overheating, it barely gets warm.
Agreed, but when apple refuses to comment, and you have a lot of unhappy folks this is what will happen, what we need is apple to trot out Craig on the software front and go look I hear you, I am on this, and I have my entire teams on this till we find and fix this. If this is a chip issues we need the head of chips to come out and go we may have a bad batch we know who you are and where you are and we will notify you to do an swap we are sorry. The end, but if they are not prepared to come to a statement of even hey we hear you we are digging deep, then well the WSJ and the likes are publishing what they see online. The mob is not always right, and it is not always wrong. I will say MKBHD absence of posting his review video and we are this far into the game, one has to wonder did he find an issue and is trying to get apple to actually comment on the record on what the hell is going on.....

I called Apple support to ask about why my 15 pro max vibration doesn't work in silent mode for text messages and my 14PM worked just fine with vibration in silent mode.... they have No answers yet supposedly someone else had the problem as well....
Go to settings > Sounds and Haptics > Play Haptics in Silent Mode. Make sure this setting is turned on.

I have a 15 pro max, 512gb, natural titanium, and I use without a case.

I’ve had it since launch day. It’s done indexing, etc.

My phone gets extremely hot when:
- updating apps in App Store
- using podcasts app
- charging with apple chargers and cables (both wireless and usbc)
- I was using safari last night trying to book a car and got the hottest I’ve ever felt. Had to close safari and heat dissipated. Wasn’t able to reproduce.

Gets noticeably hot during:
- normal phone call

Haven’t tried:
- FaceTime
- IG

I’m strongly considering returning it.

"Apple refused to comment."

Lack of transparency is a huge problem. I understand that there are liability issues and the Class Action lawyers will come out in full force, but it's not comforting to me, as an Apple enthusiast, for the company to " remain silent." And, I imagine most of the general population will feel the same way. No one wants to spend $1,300 on a compromised phone.
