Good example, and I think photo quality is largely subjective — I may like the way a photo turns out, but others may point out the problems with it (color, lighting, etc.). For me, if it looks good — it is good.
Agree photo quality is highly subjective to an extent. As a developer I have an iPhone 14PM, S23, Fold 4, and Pixel 7 Pro.

Honestly, I prefer the iPhone pictures over my other phones.

Woah. Imagine that. Should've been this way since 2017 at least.
Yes, I’m not sure who “we all” are that have “a lot of mixed feelings” about USB-C. Lightning was a great improvement for its time but that time had long passed. My only feeling about USB-C is, “Finally!”

Many smartphones from other manufacturers still do, yes.
Not to mention those that do have a higher USB C protocol often include a 2.0 cable.

In truth though for the average consumer, does it matter? Most consumers aren't moving massive amounts of data via their cable, and are using airdrop, cloud drives, or their data connection (either Wi-Fi or cellular).

Typical user who would never go on an online forum like MR would have been very annoyed to have to move from a microUSB port to a USB-C port.

In the same way the same demographic would get annoyed with moving from Lighting to USB-C port if all their cables are Lightning.

Only persons who cares about USB-C port are nerds... nerds and more nerds as they want one cable for all their needs and likely to now want 5-10 USB-C port + 1 USB-A port fast charger that has a total output of 300W or more.

Does anyone make a high quality USB-C cable that also has sort of a rubbery connector instead of the slippery plastic?

I need one in black.

I agree. There's always a rush to be the first to "create content" rather than actually write something helpful and well considered. This year The Verge's review does stand out in the field of mediocrity, imho.

I've been an Apple fan for a long time but man these "reviews" are starting to bore the life out of me. No disrespect to any of the creators.

I'm a "nerd" but honestly could care less, I prefer MagSafe, and have even made my Android phones to where they work with my MagSafe chargers.

It's so cute how they go out of their way to find something positive to say about the phones... "I have some other ideas for the Action Button, though, and the beauty is you can experiment with it until you find something you like."

I'd find a button that's actually useful without having to try so hard to figure out some use for it. You can use it to activate and use the camera, but the old way is just as good as the button is in the wrong place. I'm holding my breath waiting for someone for find a use for this magical button.

Of course, earlier you had a physical slider to put your phone on silent and you could see with a glance whether it was on or off. Now you have a button you can accidentally "long press" while it's in your pocket, and I'm not sure if the silent icon stays there constantly so you have at least some way to actually confirm whether you have ring on or off.

What comes to moving to usb-c, I find that in all ways positive. I haven't bothered to purchase any lightning gear because they go obsolete so fast anyway, and I much prefer having usb-c chargers all around rather than having to lug around the lightning cable, too.

It's so cute how people twist and contort things to find criticism out of the smallest thing. As someone that actually owns an iPhone 15 I can say the action button is phenomenal. It has a ton of use, you can tie it to a shortcut to and have it do all sorts of things. It's not just relegated to the camera, and you're not accidentally activating it that take is just rubbish.

The weight difference between this year's Pros and last year's is noticeable even with a case
Here's a tip. You know, what material is even lighter, does not require antenna cutouts to provide excellent reception-transmission of EM-waves, can come in any color you like, and be changed like those cases we have to buy (so not even extra weight/thickness of the case required?).
Hint - lookup Nokia 735 "Fabula" design. Great artists "steal", remember?
