I've had my 15 pro (512GB) phone since release day and charge it every night on my Belkin 3 in 1 magsafe charger, I have used this charger for 3 years without issues.

I woke up yesterday morning with my phone at 68% and multiple alerts saying charging has been paused due to temperature and the phone was extremely hot.

Last night I turned off standby mode and tried charging via magsafe again and it got the same temperature warning after 30 minutes so I just plugged it in with a 20W apple charging cable/block. It was still hotter than normal this morning but charged to 100% without any warnings.

The strange thing is, I have been charging this phone since launch day on the magsafe stand every night without any issues until two days ago.

I'm running on the latest 17.0.3 update and force closed all apps last night prior to charging and iCloud was not backing up any new photos or documents. Also restarted the phone an hour prior to placing it on the magsafe charger

Has anyone else had this issue?

No heating issues before 17.0.3 came out, now it's awful as well. Apple needs to address this ASAP.

I haven't tried this yet but will today at some point. I just set up a brand new 15 Pro 1TB last night. iOS 17.0.3 was DFU installed via Apple Configurator before anything else. Set up as new, no restore from backup (I was coming from an 11 Pro Max) and it's been on power only via whatever USB connection it had during that DFU iOS installation. 56% battery, cool as a cucumber at the moment. I do have a MagSafe Duo with the Apple 20W adapter and I'll see what happens temperature-wise later on.

OP -- are you charging the iPhone with a MagSafe case installed or without any case? I use a QuadLock MagSafe case and will be running this experiment with the case installed.

I tried charging with the MagSafe Duo and the 20W brick. Just the iPhone on the Duo, no Watch. The iPhone 15 Pro was at about 30% battery when I put it on the Duo and I let it charge up to about 82% before I needed the device and took it off the charger. The iPhone was definitely warm yet definitely not anything I would describe as "hot".

My issue started two weeks after I got it, not sure what it could be but to answer your previous question, i’m caseless. Thanks for sharing your experience and hopefully it stays positive!
