Yes, I managed to get five years out of my iPhone 7. I expect it will be similar for the SE I replaced it with.As long as it doesn’t break I’ll try to keep my iPhone 12 (2020) to around 2025.
Seems like an Apple thing to do. Finally all the people who struggle with 240 grams in their hand will be happy.Lithium Ion Battery is rising in cost for the first time in decades. I would not be surprised if Apple decided to put in a smaller battery.
Kidding aside, I’m sure Apple as to walk a fine line when it comes to weight of the iPhone, not because people can’t hold a heavier device but because we all attribute a certain amount of weight to quality. Make a device too light and people will think it’s cheap. The plastic body iPhone was a perfect example. As are the current Pro models with their heavy stainless steel frame, in how heavier items have more perceived value.Seems like an Apple thing to do. Finally all the people who struggle with 240 grams in their hand will be happy.
"awesome battery life" LOL..."According to the report, Apple had more aggressive plans to further improve the GPU on the chip, calling it a "generational leap." Apple initially wanted to include ray tracing for the A16 Bionic's GPU, but those plans failed after the chip overheated, leading to poor battery life."
It will be interesting to see if Apple can continue to push the GPU envelope on 3nm chips whilst maintaining or improving the current awesome battery life of the iPhone?
I'm confident Apple will achieve it.
That's the thing. While having 1000+nits high refresh rate displays, multi camera systems, gigabit connections, console like gaming graphics, workstation grade video and photo edit and export capabilities etc. etc. etc.
Sure, Apple could build an iPhone 2G with a 3nm soc and give you two weeks of battery life, but you would have to deal with a dumb phone grade feature set and a craptastic user experience (by todays standards).
That’s right, because you carry “the powerbank” with you.Bring it on – love the crazy great battery life on my Pro Max, feeling good to leave the house even for a very long day without a power bank as backup. If Apple can extend this battery life even longer, go for it!
Apple malware updates will ensure the battery life will be garbage after 1 year.If this is actually 35% better battery life over 13 Pro or 14 Pro with no caveats then I'm definitely upgrading.
The malware updates will make it worse.Better battery life is always a good thing.
Until the malware updates come.More battery life will always be welcome
I was planning on doing same with my iPhone 12. Then T-Mobile gave me a trade in for a 14 with just sales tax. I like shiny objects. Got to spend money to save money. As long as it doesn’t break I’ll try to keep my iPhone 12 (2020) to around 2025.
