Comparing my XR to the 15, the 15 screen is a lot more yellow and even more dim when looking at it directly, but at an angle it looks a lot better for some reason.

I have True Tone and night shift turned off as well.

Is this going to go away soon? I heard you have to wait a few days for the screen to whiten.

Anyways I appreciate any help.
 
Cirrhosis of the iPhone. Get your liver enzymes checked.
 
The XR uses LCD for the screen. The 15 series use OLED. If the panel is uniform and it looks ok to you without comparing to your old phone I'd keep it assuming the rest of the phone is fine. If you want to return and try another phone you have 14 days to return under Apple's pretty bulletproof return policy. If it's a normal 15 stock shouldn't be too hard to find.

First thing I did was lay both the 14 and 15 ProMax phones side by side and the screens were near identical. I have not have a bad screen in many years.
